Plugins are only loaded in the development environment

I specified a pluginDir and the plugins are being loaded correctly. I would also like to use the dev tools in production, so I set includeInProd to true for client, server, and devTools. However, my plugins do not appear in the live environment.

If I interpret this line correctly, plugins are only loaded when NODE_ENV is set to "development".

Is there a reason for this, and are there any plans to change it?

Hmm so you'd like to include them in prod as well? I think it shouldn't be too hard to add.

Thanks! Yes - our use case is an internal production environment. We already run the React Router Dev Tools in prod via includeInProd, and we’d like plugins to honor the same flag (or a dedicated includePluginsInProd).

Our app is a new web app still in development, built with NODE_ENV=production internally. When we go public, we’ll keep React Router Dev Tools available only on our internal network and behind auth/feature flags.

A flag‑driven check instead of a strict NODE_ENV === "development" would let us load plugins only when a VITE_ENABLE_RRD_DEVTOOLS (or similar) is set, and keep them tree‑shaken/codesplit otherwise.
