Please take www.jsdiff.com down #2

Description

@ExplodingCabbage

Hi. I am the actual maintainer of jsdiff, whose real repo is at https://github.com/kpdecker/jsdiff/.

The website you have created at https://www.jsdiff.com, is, frankly, rather slimy and embarrassing. I note that:

  • You give the false impression that you are the owner and maintainer of the jsdiff package on npm. That is, your website instructs people to install jsdiff with npm install diff - which installs the diff npm package that Kevin and I control, not you - but then your website also links to THIS repo (owned by you, with no affiliation with the actual jsdiff project) via all the GitHub links. It would be natural for a reader to conclude that https://www.jsdiff.com is the official website for the diff package on npm (it isn't), and that this is the official repo (it isn't), and that you, @daichangya, are the author or maintainer (you are not; you have never contributed to the project at all). This is deceptive.
  • You make a bunch of claims about the project's popularity that are simply made up. You claim it has 5.2k GitHub stars; in reality it has over 9k. You claim it has "8M+" monthly downloads; in fact it has over 400M. You give stats for "monthly users" and "countries" that are likewise almost certainly simply arbitrary numbers you invented (or copied from somewhere else, perhaps); I am not even sure what those stats are supposed to mean but there is certainly no data source from which you could reasonably have gathered such numbers. The testimonial is also clearly made-up; no real person praising jsdiff would ever praise it for being "privacy-first".
  • The "features" link inexplicably leads to a sleazy-looking sales page for (I think) an Indonesian online gaming site, advertised using scantily-clad cartoon women with large breasts.
  • Multiple pages of the website are broken.

It's dishonest for you to have put this online, is unhelpful to our users to hit this garbage instead of the official GitHub repo when they google for jsdiff, and I would think that surely it is also simply embarrassing to you to have your online identity associated with something so sleazy and broken. Would you please just take it down? The world would be a better place if it did not exist.
