Codebase

Code navigation for TypeScript and JavaScript projects through the TypeScript compiler API, run over the target project's own tsconfig.json. Results carry verified line numbers, so an agent can find a definition or every call site without a text search.

TypeScript 7 no longer ships the programmatic compiler API, so the module imports it from typescript-api, an alias for typescript@5.9 in this repository's dependencies.

Tools

  • codebase_find_definition - locate the definitions of functions, classes or types by name.
  • codebase_trace_calls - find every usage of a function, class or type, grouped by file.
  • codebase_find_unused_symbols - list declarations with no references elsewhere in the project; exported symbols are included with a warning.
  • codebase_project_structure - a tree of the directory hierarchy with file counts, the usual first call in an unfamiliar project.

Authentication

None.

Configuration

None. Every tool takes the project path as an argument.

Where it runs

  • Claude Code: the bridge loads it (isInClaudeCode: true in src/modules/registry.ts).
  • OpenCode: every enabled agent allows codebase_* (opencode.json).
