Additional notes for reviewers
This plugin requires Windows and Microsoft Excel 2016 or later because it automates the native Excel application through COM. The plugin package contains bootstrap scripts and skills, not executable runtime binaries. On first use it downloads the matching Windows runtime from the public sbroenne/mcp-server-excel GitHub Release. Release v2.0.1 publishes SHA256SUMS, and the bootstrap fails closed unless fresh and cached runtime ZIPs match their exact SHA-256 entry before extraction.
Repository signal clarification: the submitted source repository is generated, output-only plugin distribution. The maintained project, source code, issue tracker, and community history are at https://github.com/sbroenne/mcp-server-excel. At submission time, the main project has 565 stars and 75 forks; the low activity figures shown for mcp-server-excel-plugins do not represent the ExcelMcp project.
