Fixes codeplain 0.4.0, which cannot start.

What happens today

A person installs or upgrades the client and runs it. It stops before it reads anything:

ImportError: cannot import name 'project' from 'plain_parser'

The wheel of 0.4.0 asks for plain-parser 0.1.4, which does not hold the parts the client needs. The client needs 0.2.0.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Chores
    • Updated the plain-parser dependency requirement from version 0.1.4 to 0.2.0.
  • Tests
    • Added checks that dependency declarations match between the project configuration and requirements list, including exact version requirements and dependency names.

pyproject.toml carries the dependencies an installed client gets, and it still named
plain-parser 0.1.4. That release has no project module, so codeplain 0.4.0 stopped on
an ImportError before it read anything.

requirements.txt was right, which is why every test and every CI job passed: they all
build from it, never from the wheel. A test now compares the pins of the two files.

Walkthrough

The plain-parser dependency pin changed from 0.1.4 to 0.2.0. New tests check dependency name and requirement-string consistency between requirements.txtandpyproject.toml`.

The plain-parser pin changed to 0.2.0. New tests compare dependency names and exact requirement strings across requirements.txt and the runtime and development dependencies in pyproject.toml.

The parser pin now matches the requirements file. The test coverage improvement is not a merge blocker.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 0.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 3 functions across 1 files. (1 skipped: 1 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Follow-up Comments

Nitpick Check each dependency declaration independently.

28-29: Trivial · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Check each dependency declaration independently.

The current manifests match and have no runtime/development name overlap, so this is a coverage gap rather than the existing installation failure. A duplicate runtime declaration can be discarded by _pyproject(). A development declaration can also replace a runtime declaration in {**runtime, **dev}. Preserve the declarations as lists, compare runtime and development entries separately, and keep the name-set check for omissions.

Review comment at @tests/test_dependency_pins.py around lines 28 - 29:
Update `_requirements()` and `_pyproject()` to preserve dependency declarations
as lists rather than dictionaries, so duplicate entries and runtime/development
overlaps remain visible. In the dependency comparison, check each runtime and
development declaration independently against requirements, and retain the
name-set check for missing declarations.
