While it renders, the client now shows how far the module has come:

Rendering functionality add-login-button (3/12): Add a login button

The number counts every functionality of the module, so it stays the same whatever part of the specification you asked for. It is in the progress view and in the log.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Functionality labels now show the current item’s position and total count when available.
    • Renderer headings now include the functionality position and, on repeat attempts, the attempt number.

The func-id says which functionality is being implemented. It does not say how far
the module has come, which the number said before the renderer took func-ids.

The TUI and the log now read "add-login-button (3/12)". The count is over every
functionality of the module, not over a render range, so the number says where the
render is in the specification whatever part of it was asked for. Both lines ask the
render context for the position, so they cannot disagree.

Walkthrough

The render context now computes and stores the current functionality’s one-based position and total count. The TUI label and renderer heading display that position when available. Renderer headings retain attempt numbers when the render attempt count exceeds one.

Changes: Functionality Position Display

Layer / File(s) Summary
Position data and snapshot
plain2code_events.py, plain2code_utils.py, render_machine/render_context.py, tests/test_functionality_position.py
The new helper returns a one-based position/count string for a listed functionality ID, or None when the ID is missing or unknown. RenderContext stores the current position in its snapshot. Tests cover known, missing, and unknown IDs.
TUI and renderer headings
render_machine/actions/render_functional_requirement.py, tui/state_handlers.py, tests/test_functionality_position.py
The TUI label and renderer heading append the position when available. Renderer headings include the attempt number when it exceeds one. Tests cover headings and labels with and without a position.

Partial renders retain module-wide positions. Integration coverage can be strengthened, but no merge-blocking issue was found.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 66.67% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 6 functions across 6 files.

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Follow-up Comments

Nitpick Exercise the real render context for partial renders.

65-76: Trivial · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Exercise the real render context for partial renders.

The added tests inject the position into RenderContextSnapshot and replace current_functionality_position() with a lambda. They do not verify that a partial render computes the module-wide position and propagates it through RenderContext.create_snapshot(). A regression at that boundary could leave the TUI or log without the position while all added tests pass.

Add an integration test with a render range containing a later functionality. Assert the real snapshot position and the heading produced from the same RenderContext.

Add an integration test using a real RenderContext and a partial render range
that includes a later functionality. Verify the module-wide position propagated
by RenderContext.create_snapshot() and assert the heading produced from that
same context, rather than injecting the position or replacing
current_functionality_position() as _log_heading does.
