Change and mathematical scope

Run both unchanged PR #5757 qualification entry points while sharing their duplicate complete source execution within one fresh process. One Linux baseline/candidate pair reduces the whole qualification bill from 405.86 to 268.93 seconds: 33.74% less wall time and 33.47% less CPU time. This includes both complete literal oracles, beyond the source-only timing measured in PR #5816.

The runner still calls both original main functions and compares their complete original RESULT/CROSS receipts. It retains all original source/native/caller/invoice/compiler/outer checks, adapter and omission controls, and every one of 17,651 actual states and 9,037,312 amplitudes per literal interpreter, including zeros, absolute phases and denominators. It uses the existing observational trace collector during the first source replay, then transfers that trace only after checking unchanged counters/cache state. Both literal interpreters execute fully; no persistent PASS cache or sampling is introduced.

The second cold source execution is deliberately coalesced into the first; the cross phase shares that process state. This is obligation-preserving orchestration, not an independent second source replay or a new engine. The original standalone commands remain available. Conditional κ remains .00310045, with the same five framework assumptions; selected metadata and κ research are unchanged.

Task and overlap

Refine replay-runtime to frozen PR #5757 head 53006fe6031dab5c23d5b7d1cf6a92f411a04a68, following PR #5816 head dd59757bd1d938e2aed75e73f24e7ae7b8054211. Main was refreshed to de5ec2e7a6074068452f45b1a191b5c72832df4a, priority 8. The bounded claim precedes execution. Targeted PR/source and released predecessor Discussion checks found no matching combined-qualification scope; unpublished work and exhaustive Discussion coverage are outside this claim.

The scientific contribution is one isolated package, research/selected-single-pass-qualification/. The unchanged official 54-file source export and notices are retained at our own ancestor 3cb9c9141a65a369142162414d37f0beedcb1cf3; no pending-PR Git object is needed at runtime. The branch also carries the exact test-only PR #5761 repair, source ba8a9e640e1983f3c29993fefa3f46e8ed03313a, with Ali Romman's authorship and cherry-pick credit preserved.

Validation

Coverage mapping and a small real-adapter feasibility test passed before integration: three inputs, 1,536 amplitudes per unchanged literal interpreter, identical complete baseline/candidate receipts, and 13 exact-predicate stage/contamination/exception controls. Seven actual source/export corruption controls reject before imports. Both control suites pass normally and under -O.

On Ubuntu 24.04.5 LTS, CPython 3.12.3, the original verify/cross commands take 129.70 + 276.15 seconds; the combined candidate takes 268.93 seconds. CPU time is 403.68 versus 268.56 seconds. Candidate output preserves all original scientific output byte-for-byte, excluding only its duplicated printing. Kernel peak RSS increases from the old pair's maximum 514.38 MiB to 518.56 MiB; the candidate sampled group peak is 514.86 MiB. One serial fresh-process pair on a shared host with unflushed OS caches is not a median, statistical confidence interval or universal speedup.

A separate complete optimized run passes in 268.03 seconds. The read-only, Git-free implementation export passes under -I -O -B, empty PATH and an explicit authenticated package import root in 269.39 seconds, with all 18 exported files unchanged. Normal, optimized and sealed stdout agree byte-for-byte. These extra qualifications are outside either arm of the timing comparison. All five local scientific commands pass in 1,212.21 seconds, within a 900-second first-pair gate and 1,500-second later aggregate cap; each command is limited to 600 seconds and 1 GiB sampled group RSS. No retry, resource stop, diagnostic stderr or source mutation occurred.

python3 -B scripts/research_package.py --package research/selected-single-pass-qualification

This registered replay performs a fresh complete scientific qualification, after the two small control phases. It is not a recorded-evidence-only check. The README also supplies the exact serial comparison commands. PROOF.md, COVERAGE-GATE.json, BENCHMARK.json, VALIDATION.json and evidence/ retain the coverage argument, complete outputs, resource receipts and limitations. Public resource receipts remove only local absolute script paths and retain the original receipt hashes; scientific stdout is unfiltered.

Implementation export 47e6c56c687ced98a854f7d1e723b7a04db3f15b contains the runtime tested in every candidate run. Later additions are reports/evidence; the runtime closure is unchanged. Final publication head is a0171b8d2f942cdfc5295307548fe484c570b1ba. Package metadata, all 45 committed files/bytes/modes, declared-pin immediate ancestry, final official export and input integrity pass. Full-history preflight is unavailable in the shallow checkout. Hosted CI and independent scientific acceptance remain separate and will be reported at this exact head.

Credit

Ali Romman supplied PR #5704's exact quadratic engine, PR #5757's complete integration, literal audits and original controls. Retain the PR #5599 construction, native/controller/compiler/helper/BIT/classical stabilizer notices inside the unchanged archive and NOTICE. The resource guard comes from PR #5816. New orchestration, coverage analysis, controls, Linux execution and report were prepared for Chris R / Clear1nsight with substantial OpenAI Codex assistance; no subagents or independent human/proof-kernel acceptance. Apache-2.0.

Open next questions

Review the stated source-execution sharing and process-isolation boundary before adopting this opt-in command. A changed word needs fresh source binding, a new obligation map and full trace/oracle validation. Profile the remaining literal-oracle work before proposing another cache; persistent reuse needs a separate complete dependency/invalidation contract. Other-host measurements remain open. This bounded engineering contribution resumes no κ construction, monitoring, literature feed, worker swarm or automation.

HANDOFF — single-pass complete qualification published; local gates and exact-head hosted CI complete.

  1. Research discussion / PR / artifact: PR #5818, package research/selected-single-pass-qualification/, following PR #5816 and PR #5757.
  2. Exact commit: publication a0171b8d2f942cdfc5295307548fe484c570b1ba; tested implementation 47e6c56c687ced98a854f7d1e723b7a04db3f15b; unchanged PR research: speed up the complete selected P104 replay by 2.73x #5757 subject 53006fe6031dab5c23d5b7d1cf6a92f411a04a68; canonical main de5ec2e7a6074068452f45b1a191b5c72832df4a. The retained official export is bound to our ancestor 3cb9c9141a65a369142162414d37f0beedcb1cf3.
  3. What is established: the pre-construction coverage map and small real-adapter fixture pass, with three inputs, 1,536 amplitudes per literal interpreter, full receipt equivalence and 13 exact-predicate controls. Seven source/export corruption controls also pass normally and under optimization. One complete serial fresh-process Linux comparison reduces the original two-command qualification from 405.86 to 268.93 seconds (33.74% less wall time), and CPU from 403.68 to 268.56 seconds (33.47% less). Both original entry points, complete RESULT/CROSS checks, all source/native/caller/invoice/compiler/outer and original adapter/omission controls remain active. All 17,651 actual inputs and 9,037,312 amplitude entries per unchanged literal interpreter match. A complete optimized run passes in 268.03 seconds and a Git-free read-only isolated optimized export in 269.39 seconds; all candidate stdout agrees, all 54 source files and all 18 export files remain unchanged. Five local scientific commands cost 1,212.21 seconds under the staged 900/1,500-second aggregate, 600-second command and 1-GiB sampled group limits. Final metadata, all 45 committed bytes/modes, immediate pin ancestry and export/input integrity pass. Hosted run 40439285942 completed successfully at this exact head. The plan passed 513 tests in 179.870 seconds with 22 platform skips and selected only this package. The fresh scientific replay passed both small control suites, the original complete RESULT/CROSS and literal-state checks, one-source-execution/one-handoff checks, and committed-input immutability.
  4. What remains uncertain: one paired observation on a shared Linux host is not a median, confidence interval or universal performance result. Kernel peak RSS changes from 514.38 to 518.56 MiB in that pair. The cross phase intentionally shares the completed source execution and process state; it is not a second cold source replay. Both independent literal interpreters still execute fully, and the original separate entry points remain available. No persistent PASS cache, sampling, successor transfer, new κ, selected promotion, merge or independent human/proof-kernel acceptance. Five framework assumptions remain. Full-history preflight is unavailable in the shallow checkout; public resource receipts remove only local absolute script paths, with original hashes retained.
  5. Smallest useful next task: review the exact observer/handoff and coverage/isolation argument in PROOF.md before adopting the opt-in command. Rebind and remap any changed source separately. Profile the remaining literal work before proposing another cache. This handoff releases the bounded engineering implementation scope and dispatches no new experiment; κ research remains paused.
  6. Reproduction command and expected runtime: python3 -B scripts/research_package.py --package research/selected-single-pass-qualification runs small controls followed by a fresh full scientific qualification, roughly 4.5 minutes on this host. The README's benchmark.py pair command explicitly repeats both full original commands and the combined candidate serially, roughly 11 minutes here, with no retries and the stated caps. Its separately gated optimized phase costs another 4.5 minutes. These are not recorded-evidence-only acceptance commands.
  7. Predecessor credit: Ali Romman's PR #5704 engine, PR #5757 integration/oracles/controls, PR #5599 construction and retained native/controller/compiler/helper/BIT/classical stabilizer lineage remain credited. The guard comes from PR #5816. The exact shared test-only PR #5761 repair preserves original authorship and source reference. New work for Chris R / Clear1nsight with substantial OpenAI Codex assistance; no subagents. Apache-2.0.

DONE — the bounded implementation and local validation are published as PR #5832, head d2012c1e58cf25825e9a004a80545aefec631886. The self-contained package saves 25.91% wall and 25.94% CPU against the same frozen baseline while retaining every actual state, amplitude and complete original receipt. Normal, optimized and Git-free read-only isolated optimized qualification pass; all six local scientific runs fit the shared 1,500-second cumulative cap. Whole-circuit tableau caching was rejected (zero repeated circuits); the published mechanism reuses exact dense-interpreter P/D setup only. Exact-head hosted CI is running and its final result will be recorded in the canonical new PR handoff. This releases the claimed implementation scope and starts no further experiment. Kappa research, feeds, workers and automations remain paused.

Original pre-execution claim, preserved for scope history:

CLAIM — bounded verifier-engineering follow-up to PR #5818, frozen head a0171b8d2f942cdfc5295307548fe484c570b1ba. First profile the complete qualification without changing its outputs, then test exact reuse of circuit-only setup (tableaux and fixed address/phase tables, guided by measured costs). Keep the two literal implementations separate, all actual states/amplitudes and complete original RESULT/CROSS; no persistent acceptance cache or sampling. Construction follows the small coverage/invalidation gate. A new performance PR requires at least 15% wall and CPU saving against PR #5818, followed by optimized/export and exact-head hosted validation. Serial profile/first-pair budget 900 seconds, 600 per command, 1 GiB sampled group RSS, no automatic retries. Canonical main de5ec2e7a6074068452f45b1a191b5c72832df4a; targeted source/PR/Discussion overlap found no matching scope, with unpublished work outside coverage. Claim expires 27 October 2026 at 16:30 AEDT. Kappa research, feeds and automations remain paused. Credit Ali Romman and all retained PR5704/5757/5816/5818/native/controller/compiler/stabilizer predecessors. Chris R / Clear1nsight with OpenAI Codex assistance; no subagents.
