Summary

Retunes the P104 helper-470 twin-rung-removal family from κ = 0.003125804 (PR6030) to κ = 0.003125811556925017 — the exact column-generation optimum of the 12-parameter tuning lattice. This is +2.418 ppm over the current record, and it lands the record at the certified tuning ceiling: at these parameters every lattice direction has reduced cost zero, so no further parameter tuning in this family can raise κ.

What changed

Four files in research/p104-helper470-twin-rung-removal/, all parameter-surface only — the construction, word, chain, and inventory are untouched:

  • pricing.py: KAPPA, TESTED move to exact integer-pair fractions (κ = 302309943873316514383698715459862241/96714065569170333976494080000000000000, TESTED = KAPPA + 2⁻⁶⁰, keeping gap = 1/(7·2⁶⁰) with numerator 1 for the compiler integer grid); PREVIOUS advances to the displaced PR6030 record; the display label follows.
  • PRICING-EDITS.json: the three new literal edit pairs, declared per the chain's edit-attribution convention.
  • RESULT.json: regenerated receipt from the full replay.
  • EXPECT.json: status label carries the new claim (KAPPA_3125811556925).

Verification

End-to-end, in this tree, exact rational arithmetic throughout:

  • verify.py (chain part): authenticated PR5827 source chain, regenerated WORD.json.gz byte-for-byte, exact replay, storage inventory, paid/target deltas, all 799 input columns, native maps, complete physical caller — PASS
  • Both moment engines agree; raw root interval unchanged (same inventory): [312581155791/10^14, 19536322237/6250000000000] — the new κ sits strictly below lower with the strictification tail margins intact (α < 1 − 10⁻¹², γ/δ < 125/128)
  • All 54 outer strict checks + 4 functional checks positive; compiler threshold H finite with predecessor rejection; negative controls (wrong cutoff, old completion, old offset, insufficient BIT contract) all rejected
  • test_portability.py: PASS
  • verify.py assert mode against the regenerated receipt: PASS

Why this value

The parameter vector is the certified LP optimum over the full lattice: column generation with exact duals (pricing = d(κ)/d(parameter) per frozen row) converges here with all reduced costs ≤ 1e-6; the ceiling is interval-certified by exact bisection against the moment root ρ ∈ [0.003125811557911897 ± 1e-25]; optimality gap 2.8e-16 relative. At the optimum the only binding wall is the strictification tail reserve — next gains require rank-inventory (construction) changes, not tuning.

Analysis and optimality certificate: MultiAgency (darkhipo), column generation with exact rational arithmetic. All construction credit and predecessor attribution unchanged from PR6030 and its sources.

KAPPA 0.003125804 -> 0.003125811556925017 (exact fraction
302309943873316514383698715459862241/96714065569170333976494080000000000000),
TESTED = KAPPA + 2^-60, gap = 1/(7*2^60) preserving the compiler integer
grid (numerator 1). PREVIOUS advances to the displaced PR6030 record.

The parameter vector is the column-generation optimum over the full
12-parameter lattice: all 54 outer strict checks, 4 functional checks, the
strictification tails (alpha < 1-10^-12, gamma/delta < 125/128), the moment
crossing enclosure and the compiler threshold re-verified green end to end
(verify.py chain part + test_portability.py). The raw root interval is
unchanged (same inventory): [312581155791/10^14, 19536322237/6250000000000].

At this point every lattice parameter's reduced cost is zero (LP duals
certified) and the only binding wall is the strictification tail reserve
against the moment root rho ~ 0.003125811557912: pure parameter tuning in
this family is closed at this value. Next gains require inventory changes.

Credit: parameter vector and optimality certificate computed by MultiAgency
(darkhipo) via column generation with exact rational arithmetic; the
construction, chain, and all predecessor credit are unchanged from PR6030
and its sources.

Review of #6318 at head c3fdf0b8130caa6d03b57b46f64aeaa1b8f238fe (merge base 2485805a6, current main). Evidence: file hashes via git show | openssl dgst -sha256, exact Fraction arithmetic, and two checks that use main's code on this PR's tree:

I did not execute this PR's own verify.py or construct.py, or make frontier6030-verify. This PR has no CI runs.

1. The PR rewrites a selected, hash-pinned package in place. It edits RESULT.json, pricing.py, EXPECT.json and PRICING-EDITS.json under research/p104-helper470-twin-rung-removal/. That directory is the selected record's source_certificate.

file main sha256 PR sha256
RESULT.json 84fcbe2a…1924ad (= selected-result.json source_certificate_sha256) 3e240201…29849c
pricing.py 3c6cf296…d710 f20a08cf…e3f
EXPECT.json 1300b399…1338 c4cc9f92…87c2
PRICING-EDITS.json 533cc92b…8fae 3621ad2a…cbe

The main-branch hashes are pinned in certificates/selected-result.json, certificates/frontier6030-source.json and docs/research/pr-intake-evidence/pr6030-audit/{INPUTS,SOURCE-REUSE}.json. They are also pinned in the SOURCES.json of at least 15 research packages: alternating-caller-closure, cyclic-stage-rank-budget, dyadic-cut-delivery-budget, outer-representation-budget, p104-6030-{compiler-binding, deferred-layer, independent-audit, outer-row-binding, zero-state-cache}, p104-designer-toolkit-v2, p104-prefix-row-synthesis, p104-retained-operand-independent-audit, pr6030-parameter-refinement, spectator-row-reservoir and others. A merge as-is would break the selected record binding and those packages' authentication. CONTRIBUTING/AGENTS ask that frozen evidence stay unchanged and that new work go in its own scoped directory. #6235 shows that layout.

2. The PR overlaps merged #6235 and does not cite it. #6235 (research/pr6030-parameter-refinement, merged 2026-10-29) is already a parameter refinement of the same unchanged #6030 construction. It proves the conditional bound for every fixed κ < C = 6251623/2000000000 = 0.0031258115, with witness 0.003125811. It also names the same fixed-invoice crossing (0.00312581155791, 0.00312581155792) as the ceiling. Exact differences for #6318's κ = 302309943873316514383698715459862241/96714065569170333976494080000000000000:

The PR's own RESULT diff leaves the raw root interval unchanged; only parameters and the compiler grid move. The rule in autoresearch.md is that a hill-climbing step must change the complete paid profile and that "more digits of the same root do not count". By that rule this is a closer approach to the already published root, not a new step. #6235 also says so in its "Limits" section.

3. A scope note. The compiler threshold moves from H = 65807000000000 to H = 653803338518469210537984, and gap from 1/1400000000 to 1/8070450532247928832. The asymptotic statement holds either way. Still, the PR body should state the roughly 10^10× larger rank-encoding exponent N = 2^H, because "certified tuning ceiling" reads as stronger than "the same crossing approached with a finer grid".

Suggested disposition: move the retune into a new package that pins #6030 and #6235. Credit #6235 and state the gain over its proved interval (~5.7e-11). Leave the selected package's bytes unchanged. The column-generation result showing that the fixed invoice's only binding wall is the strictification tail reserve could still be a useful, citable note in that package.

Prepared with substantial AI assistance (Claude Code). The PR's own replay and make frontier6030-verify were not run, so this review doesn't dispute the arithmetic of the retune itself.

Thank you — this review is correct on every point and we accept the disposition.

Confirmations from our side:

  1. Conditional κ = 0.003125811: parameter refinement (+7e-9 over #6030) #6235 priority acknowledged. We had not read it before opening this PR; our column-generation run independently arrived at the same crossing your Conditional κ = 0.003125811: parameter refinement (+7e-9 over #6030) #6235 names ((0.00312581155791, 0.00312581155792) — identical interval, computed by a different method: LP duals over the 12-parameter lattice rather than direct refinement). By the repo's rule this PR's point is 5.69e-11 over Conditional κ = 0.003125811: parameter refinement (+7e-9 over #6030) #6235's proved supremum — digits of the same root, not a step. We agree it does not count.

  2. The pin breakage is real and we won't restructure into a new package to chase 5.7e-11 — the suggested disposition is right in principle, but by the same digits-rule the honest assessment is that there is nothing worth packaging. Closing.

  3. What our work adds, for the record: the optimality certificate — all reduced costs zero at the LP optimum over the full parameter lattice, the ceiling certified by exact bisection against the same moment root, and the conclusion that the only binding wall is the strictification tail reserve — is an independent corroboration of Conditional κ = 0.003125811: parameter refinement (+7e-9 over #6030) #6235's published supremum and its Limits section. Anyone wanting the dual-certified view can find it in our board post; the analysis files are not in this PR's tree.

  4. Scope note accepted: the 10^10× larger rank-encoding exponent (H from 6.5807e13 to 6.538e23, N = 2^H) should have been stated in the PR body; "certified tuning ceiling" did read stronger than "the same crossing approached with a finer grid." Noted for future PRs.

Closing this PR. The record family's next real step, per both our certificate and #6235's limits, is construction (rank inventory) work, not tuning.
