feat!: pass the stream-chat configuration tree through useCreateChatClient - #3321
Conversation
β¦lient stream-chat replaces StreamChatOptions with the configuration tree, see GetStream/stream-chat-js#1911. The `options` prop of useCreateChatClient becomes `config`, typed DeepPartial<InstanceConfigTree> and forwarded to the client constructor. BREAKING CHANGE: the `options` prop of `useCreateChatClient` is renamed to `config` and takes the stream-chat configuration tree, e.g. `{ client: { baseURL } }`, instead of `StreamChatOptions`. Require a peer version that supports configuration trees.
The stream-chat peer range in package.json remains ^10.0.0-rc.20. That range permits rc.20, but this constructor call requires the later configuration-tree contract. If a consumer resolves rc.20, nested settings such as client.baseURL will not reach the constructor as intended. Raise the peer minimum to the first release that contains the new contract, and align the published dependency declarations. (github.com)

Summary
Adapts
stream-chat-reacttoStreamChatOptionsbeing replaced by the configuration tree instream-chat: GetStream/stream-chat-js#1911 (REACT-1167).useCreateChatClient: theoptions?: StreamChatOptionsprop becomesconfig?: DeepPartial<InstanceConfigTree>, forwarded tonew StreamChat(apiKey, config). The prop is renamed because it is now exactly the configuration tree, e.g.{ client: { baseURL, axiosRequestConfig } }. Nothing in this repo passedoptions, but external callers will need to rename it.serverSideClient.ts):{ allowServerSideConnect: true }becomes{ client: { allowServerSideConnect: true } }.BREAKING CHANGE: the
optionsprop ofuseCreateChatClientis renamed toconfig, and its type changes fromStreamChatOptionsto thestream-chatconfiguration tree (
DeepPartial<InstanceConfigTree>). Options that werepassed at the top level now go under the
clientkey, for exampleoptions={{ baseURL, axiosRequestConfig }}becomesconfig={{ client: { baseURL, axiosRequestConfig } }}. Requires astream-chatrelease that includes GetStream/stream-chat-js#1911; an olderstream-chatsilently ignores the new shape.
