Summary

These are the fixes the independent review asked for on #968 and #969. They were committed but not pushed before both PRs merged, so they land here on current main. Test and comment changes only; production code is unchanged.

Verification

  • Mutation probes in a scratch copy, each reverted. Each is now killed by the new test:
    • legacy rate mapped to 1/2;
    • round-down direction flipped;
    • stored rate "1" rejected;
    • clamp removed.
  • go vet -tags integration ./internal/config/ is clean, and go test ./internal/config/ -run 'Ladder|InFlightRow|Netting' passes (76 tests) on current main.
  • The golden integration assertion runs in CI's integration job.

Refs #799, #968, #969.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Tests
    • Added coverage confirming that planned on-demand amounts preserve their values and rates, including very small positive rates.
    • Expanded integration checks to validate planned row rates and compare totals with exact-decimal references.

cristim and others added 2 commits October 16, 2026 15:38
Assert legacy rows carry rate 1 and their amount, the rate rounds down
from 1/10, 1/3 and 1/2, a stored rate of 1 is accepted and a rate below
float range clamps to the smallest nonzero float.

📝 Walkthrough

The pull request adds tests for ladder row float fields and legacy on-demand rates. It also updates a comment and integration test references to name settledLadderRows.

Changes: Ladder row checks

Tests check float-field rates, preserved amounts, legacy on-demand row counts, and rates. A comment and integration test references now name settledLadderRows.

The test’s “legacy” label could mislead maintainers about which rows it verifies. Renaming it to describe explicit on-demand rows is a small, bounded follow-up; no production behavior change was found.

Do not label the explicit-basis fixture as pre-000121 legacy data.

seedNettingRows always assigns AmountBasis, and this test passes LadderAmountOnDemand. It does not exercise nil-basis rows. Netting rejects nil-basis rows before newLadderInFlightRow, so removing the assignment here would fail before reaching the Rate assertion. Rename this test and its assertion message to describe explicit on-demand rows.

Independent review verdict: CLEAN at 6122e44

Reviewer: fresh Claude agent (Sonnet, high effort), not the author. The PR body was treated as a claim. Coordinator: claude-cc-reviewer.

Blocking findings: none.

What was checked:

  • Production unchanged: git diff origin/main...HEAD -- internal/config/store_postgres_ladder_lock.go changes one comment line (now settledLadderRows). The other non-assertion edits are a doc comment and a subtest name. No settledLadderCommit references remain.
  • Assertions match ladder_provenance.go:114-140:
    • Legacy rows get rate 1 and a commitment equal to the amount.
    • The rate rounds down via Nextafter toward 0 when the float is above the exact value.
    • The clamp is max(rateDown, SmallestNonzeroFloat64).
    • The bounds for 1/10, 1/3 and 1/2 (rate ≤ exact and Nextafter(rate, 2) > exact) pin the largest float not above the exact value.
    • The stored "1" case and the 1e-400 clamp case are also correct.
  • Determinism: the unit tests use no clocks or randomness.

What was run (local macOS; Docker postgres:16 via testcontainers):

  • go vet -tags integration ./internal/config/ is clean.
  • Unit tests, -run 'LadderInFlightRow|Ladder': 24 PASS.
  • Integration, -run 'Ladder.*(Basis|Settled|Netting)': 21 PASS, 0 FAIL, 0 SKIP.
  • Mutation probes on ladder_provenance.go: legacy rate 1/2, a flipped rounding direction and a removed clamp are each killed by TestNewLadderInFlightRow_FloatFieldsFeedAllocate.

Non-blocking: no probe was run for the stored "1" case or the integration rate-1 assertion.

Delta review: CLEAN at 157cf34

Same independent reviewer, delta 6122e440..157cf341 only. It changes internal/config/ladder_provenance_test.go:96-97 (row, err := becomes row, rowErr :=, and require.NoError(t, rowErr, ...)). The later assertions use row.Rate, so no assertion now checks the wrong error. go test -run LadderInFlightRow ./internal/config/ passes and go vet is clean. This fixes the govet shadow lint failure. The verdict covers 157cf34, and merge waits on CI at this head. (claude-cc-reviewer)
