New guide at /guides/new-relic-pricing: what New Relic charges for and what a team pays.

What the page covers

  • Pricing model: users plus GB past the free 100 GB, shown as a bill formula with one color per meter (full platform users, core users, data, free). Hosts are not billed.
  • Plans: Free, Standard, Pro and Enterprise table; Standard's five-user limit; pay-as-you-go vs commitment.
  • Free tier: what's included; a meter chart of the 85 GB alert and what happens past 100 GB on Free (ingest and access stop) vs paid plans (billed at $0.40/GB); no time-limited trial.
  • User types and data rates: basic, core and full platform; how users are counted; Original Data vs Data Plus; compute pricing (CCUs) and Advanced Compute.
  • Worked example: a 12-person team on 800 GB, two staffing options as stacked cost bars on one scale; what moves the total; Dynatrace vs New Relic pricing.
  • Lowering the bill: NRQL usage queries, user-type changes, Pipeline Control, committing, and an OpenTelemetry Collector config that filters debug logs and dual-exports to New Relic and Maple.
  • FAQ: is New Relic free, monthly cost, past 100 GB, free trial, per-host charges, vs Dynatrace.

Target search intent: people pricing New Relic before buying or renewing, who want the plan rates, the free tier's limits and a realistic monthly total.

Implementation

  • Numbers come from apps/landing/src/lib/vendor-pricing.ts (estimateVendor / estimateMaple); rates it does not model (core users, Data Plus, Pro monthly) are constants at the top of the page.
  • guide-highlight.ts gains an additive nrql tokenizer; the YAML block uses the existing one.
  • Links: /compare/new-relic, /guides/dynatrace-pricing, /pricing, /docs/getting-started/quickstart, /docs/reference/ingest, /docs/concepts/sampling-throughput.
  • One Maple screenshot placeholder: /screenshots/guides/new-relic-pricing-01-billing-usage.webp (to be captured).

Verification

  • Collector config: otelcol-contrib validate passes on 0.163.1; a live run with OTLP/HTTP logs dropped a severity-5 record and kept a severity-9 record and one with no severity set.
  • NRQL queries are taken verbatim from New Relic's usage-queries docs (not run; needs a New Relic account).
  • bun run --cwd apps/landing build passes; page reviewed in Playwright at 1440 px and 390 px.

Sources (verified 2026-10-20)

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added a guide explaining New Relic pricing, plans, usage costs, and ways to reduce bills.
    • Added the guide to the Guides listing and site content index.
    • Updated guide card sizing to better accommodate different numbers of guides.

<p>
Before data, five full platform users on New Relic Standard cost $406 a month, while 100 Full-Stack hosts of 8 GiB on Dynatrace cost $5,800. Flip the team: 40 Pro users cost $13,960 a month, and 20 Dynatrace hosts cost $1,160. Small teams on large fleets tend to pay less on New Relic, and large teams on small fleets on Dynatrace. The <a href="/guides/dynatrace-pricing">Dynatrace pricing guide</a> breaks down the rate card and the platform subscription.

🟡 Dynatrace pricing comparison leads to 404

Readers following the Dynatrace comparison reach a 404. The linked /guides/dynatrace-pricing route does not exist in this checkout.

Learn more

The new guide links readers to a Dynatrace pricing guide, but this checkout has no route for that guide. Astro generates guide URLs from the pages present under its guides routes, so this link does not resolve.

Example: A visitor reading the Dynatrace comparison clicks “Dynatrace pricing guide” and sees a 404 instead of a rate-card breakdown.

Recommended fix: Add the Dynatrace pricing route before publishing this link, or link to an existing Dynatrace resource until that guide is merged.

F2 fixed in the latest commit (moved to the core guides list). F1 is intentional: /guides/dynatrace-pricing lands in a parallel PR; merge that one first or together with this.

Hardcoded "12 ×" and the monthly rate can drift from the estimator inputs.

The text "12 × $418.80" and the proMonthlyUsers = 12 * PRO_MONTHLY_PER_USER calculation both repeat the user count. The estimateVendor call on Line 43 uses fullUsers: 12 as a separate literal. If one value changes, the example becomes inconsistent. Define const fullUsers = 12 once and reuse it.

The Collector filter now drops only DEBUG and TRACE, so logs without a
severity number pass through. The last core guide card spans the rest of
its row at three columns as well as two.

Derive the FAQ totals from the estimator.

The FAQ hardcodes $979 and $4,468, while the page calculates these totals from estimateVendor. If New Relic pricing changes, the FAQ can disagree with the estimator. Interpolate mixedTotal and allFull.total instead.

Covers the standard levels, logger vs handler levels and propagation, setting the level from argparse, LOG_LEVEL and dictConfig, per-module levels, custom levels and getLevelNamesMapping, and how levels interact with the OpenTelemetry LoggingHandler. Fixes the Python instrumentation doc, which suggested basicConfig after the handler is attached, where it is a no-op.
Short H1, five grouped sections, a diagram of how a record passes the
logger level, propagates and meets each handler's level, level colors
shared with Maple's severity palette, and highlighted code throughout.
The ways to set the level sit in tabs; the OpenTelemetry section uses the
LoggingHandler from opentelemetry-instrumentation-logging.

LanguageTabs takes an optional storage group so non-language tabs don't
overwrite the remembered language. The guide highlighter gains a console
mode and more Python keywords.
Lead with what a level is, the five levels with an example each and how
basicConfig sets one. Drop the numeric values, dictConfig, the -v flag,
runtime switching and the propagation diagram; keep handler levels as one
short section before OpenTelemetry.
Covers install, sinks with rotation/retention/compression, levels,
formatting, serialize=True JSON, bind/contextualize, logger.catch,
enqueue for async and multiprocessing, the InterceptHandler recipe,
and a Loguru sink that forwards records to the OpenTelemetry
LoggingHandler so logs keep their trace context.
… OpenTelemetry

Six sections with a record-path diagram for the OpenTelemetry bridge, one
color per system (Loguru, logging, OpenTelemetry) in badges, the diagram and
code, script vs FastAPI/uvicorn tabs for the intercept, and highlighted code
via the shared guide highlighter (adds json, python-logging, loguru-output).
Plain-words intro, copy buttons on every code block, and shorter sections:
the multiprocessing, flat-JSON sink and uvicorn detours are gone, and the
OpenTelemetry bridge rules move into code comments and one callout.
…ng levels guide

The OpenTelemetry section now installs, configures and runs a complete
logs-only telemetry.py for any OTLP backend, with Maple as the example.
Drop the severity mapping, shorten the basicConfig callout and add copy
buttons to every code block.
A plain intro, install and first log line as one step, and an OpenTelemetry
section with a complete telemetry.py, a run with real output and what the
lines look like in Maple, without depending on the Python docs guide.
