🔴 Missing dev transport breaks production startup
When production omits dev dependencies and leaves NODE_ENV unset, prettySnippet loads the unavailable pino-pretty transport. The logger fails to start.
Learn more
The install command puts pino-pretty in dev dependencies, which production installations commonly omit. The sample creates a transport unless NODE_ENV equals production; leaving the variable unset selects the missing package. Pino cannot initialize that transport, so the sample service cannot start.
Example: Install with npm install --omit=dev and start the app with no NODE_ENV. The app requests pino-pretty, although that package was omitted.
Recommended fix: Enable the pretty transport only when NODE_ENV === "development"; use JSON output otherwise.

🟨 Request credentials leak into Express logs
For authenticated requests, expressSnippet logs headers without redaction. The default pino-http request serializer includes authorization and cookie headers, exposing credentials in collected logs.

Plans, free tier limits, per-unit rates, overage rules, session replay pricing and two worked monthly bills, verified 2026-10-19 against sentry.io/pricing and Sentry's billing docs. Registered in the guides index and llms.txt.
Shorter H1 and subtitle, six grouped sections, sans prose, one color per billing meter across a bill formula, a free-tier meter chart and stacked cost bars. NRQL and Collector config are highlighted with the shared highlighter (adds an nrql tokenizer). Drop-rule end of life corrected to August 31, 2026; prices re-verified 2026-10-20.
Short title and H1, six grouped sections, prose in the sans font, one color per billed category across badges, charts and bill tables, a cost-by-volume chart, an overage order diagram and bill breakdown bars. Bill lines are computed from the published rate tables. Prices re-verified 2026-10-20.
… at xl The Collector filter now drops only DEBUG and TRACE, so logs without a severity number pass through. The last core guide card spans the rest of its row at three columns as well as two.
…line Short title and subtitle, six grouped sections, a diagram of where a line goes (destination, transport worker, OpenTelemetry export to Maple), ES module / CommonJS / TypeScript and Express / Fastify tabs, highlighted code with trace fields colored like the OpenTelemetry path, and Maple steps with screenshot slots. Adds javascript, json and shell to the guide highlighter.

Fill the final card at the xl breakpoint.
coreGuides now has seven entries. At xl, the grid has three columns, but the existing odd-count rule only applies md:col-span-2. The Pino card therefore spans two columns and leaves one empty cell. Add xl:col-span-3 to preserve the intended full-width final card.

Redact the Set-Cookie response header in the Express example.
The pino-http default response serializer writes res.headers. A response that sets a session cookie therefore writes the set-cookie value to the request completed line in clear text. The redact list covers only request headers. The note on Line 193 says the redaction exists because the serializers log every header, so the guide should also cover the response side. Readers copy this example into apps with sessions.

Make the CLI commands match the selected module format.
If a reader creates app.mjs or app.cjs from the setup tabs, these commands try to run app.ts instead. Node cannot find that file. Show the matching filename for each module format, or tell readers to replace app.ts with their selected filename.

Covers the standard levels, logger vs handler levels and propagation, setting the level from argparse, LOG_LEVEL and dictConfig, per-module levels, custom levels and getLevelNamesMapping, and how levels interact with the OpenTelemetry LoggingHandler. Fixes the Python instrumentation doc, which suggested basicConfig after the handler is attached, where it is a no-op.
Short H1, five grouped sections, a diagram of how a record passes the logger level, propagates and meets each handler's level, level colors shared with Maple's severity palette, and highlighted code throughout. The ways to set the level sit in tabs; the OpenTelemetry section uses the LoggingHandler from opentelemetry-instrumentation-logging. LanguageTabs takes an optional storage group so non-language tabs don't overwrite the remembered language. The guide highlighter gains a console mode and more Python keywords.
Lead with what a level is, the five levels with an example each and how basicConfig sets one. Drop the numeric values, dictConfig, the -v flag, runtime switching and the propagation diagram; keep handler levels as one short section before OpenTelemetry.
Covers install, sinks with rotation/retention/compression, levels, formatting, serialize=True JSON, bind/contextualize, logger.catch, enqueue for async and multiprocessing, the InterceptHandler recipe, and a Loguru sink that forwards records to the OpenTelemetry LoggingHandler so logs keep their trace context.
… OpenTelemetry Six sections with a record-path diagram for the OpenTelemetry bridge, one color per system (Loguru, logging, OpenTelemetry) in badges, the diagram and code, script vs FastAPI/uvicorn tabs for the intercept, and highlighted code via the shared guide highlighter (adds json, python-logging, loguru-output).
Plain-words intro, copy buttons on every code block, and shorter sections: the multiprocessing, flat-JSON sink and uvicorn detours are gone, and the OpenTelemetry bridge rules move into code comments and one callout.
…ng levels guide The OpenTelemetry section now installs, configures and runs a complete logs-only telemetry.py for any OTLP backend, with Maple as the example. Drop the severity mapping, shorten the basicConfig callout and add copy buttons to every code block.
A plain intro, install and first log line as one step, and an OpenTelemetry section with a complete telemetry.py, a run with real output and what the lines look like in Maple, without depending on the Python docs guide.
