Rewrites the opening of nine published guides so a first-time reader knows what the topic is, why it matters and what the guide covers before the first section, and adds a Key takeaways box under each intro.

Guides: Prometheus metrics, Python logging levels, Loguru, Pino, log parsing, Dynatrace pricing, Sentry pricing, New Relic pricing, incident response.

Each intro goes problem → plain definition of the tool or concept → why it matters → what you'll have at the end. The old definition boxes are folded into it.

Small additions, kept short:

  • Prometheus: a four-line "Which type should I use?" list
  • Python logging levels: force=True in the basicConfig callout
  • Pino: Pino's own published benchmark against Winston, linked
  • Log parsing: a log parsing tools table (Collector, Fluent Bit, Logstash, Vector, Graylog, Splunk), facts from each vendor's page; the mistakes section is now "best practices and common mistakes"
  • Sentry: a Discounts section (annual billing, sponsored plans, startup program), each checked on sentry.io
  • New Relic: FAQs "Why is New Relic expensive?" and "Are there hidden costs?"

Landing build passes; rendered pages checked with Playwright.

Rewrites the opening of nine landing guides, folding the old definition callout into a new guide-lead intro with a Key takeaways box, plus small additions (log-parsing tools table, Sentry discounts, New Relic cost FAQs). Markup, copy and per-page CSS only, and it checks out.

These guides are public documentation, and a few takeaways could mislead readers. Following them could expose sensitive data in logs or silently stop telemetry export. Several other statements overstate what the tools do. Correct the flagged guidance before merge. The pages themselves should render and build normally.

Sanitize raw records before exporting them.

This advice sends unmatched lines with their raw bodies. Those bodies can contain query-string tokens or personal data. The nginx configuration also retains the raw body on matched records, even though it excludes the query string from url.path. Sanitize the body before export, while keeping parse failures observable. Do not promise that retention prevents a full disk.

The example retains rotated files for 14 days. A high log rate can fill the disk before those files expire. Describe rotation and retention as controls on log growth, not a disk-capacity guarantee. (loguru.readthedocs.io)

Disable diagnostics on the default sink too.

Adding a sink with diagnose=False leaves Loguru’s default stderr sink active with diagnostics enabled. An exception can still expose variable values there. Tell readers to remove and replace that sink, or set LOGURU_DIAGNOSE=NO before import. (loguru.readthedocs.io)

Limit trace-ID correlation to active spans.

The instrumentation does not add a trace ID outside an active span. The guide’s startup example at Line 664 confirms this. Qualify the takeaway so readers do not expect a trace link on every line. (github.com)

Warn that force=True removes existing handlers.

If a reader imports this guide’s telemetry.py first, force=True removes its OpenTelemetry handler and stops backend log export. Prefer changing the level when existing handlers must remain, and state the replacement side effect. (docs.python.org)

Qualify the budget cutoff by category.

An exhausted shared budget does not discard data in a category that still has included or reserved volume. The flow at Lines 489–493 shows those volumes are used first. State that data is dropped only after that category’s volume and the budget are exhausted.
