Use-case 1: CBTF computers placed in non-CBTF rooms
We are now going all in on PrairieTest for exam bookings here at UBC, and we've done sent some of our computers to the Centre for Accessibility for students who have specific accommodations we cannot handle at our CBTF.
The only thing preventing us from requiring students to write on CBTF computers is that it is too difficult to train their 100 staff to use PrairieTest and click Start Exam. Our current workaround is to use "Unproctored" sessions, which mostly works but allows students to use their own laptops if there is a process failure. Yes, each instructor can click start exam in a standard session, but that's cumbersome and error prone.
Use-case 2 Autonomous CBTF
“unproctored but in a specific location” is a new use case for an autonomous CBTF (Rafael Corsi Ferrão from Slack).
This would be resolved if there was another session type that didn't require an invigilator to click start session that's a bit more secure than Unproctored session, but a bit less secure than In-person.
