App Being Added

Plainsay, a native Mac menu-bar dictation app (Apple silicon only)

Open Questions and Pre-Merge TODOs

  • Keeps list alphabetical. (between PDFZone and Planny 4)
  • Matches Standard App Line Format.
  • App status is clearly stated.
  • Status is at most 80 characters and fits three lines on mobile.
  • App status is consistent with already used verbiage. ("Full Native Apple Silicon Support")
  • Mentions supported App version in App Status. (v0.2.38)

Notes

Plainsay is written in Swift and requires macOS 14 or newer on an Apple-silicon Mac; it does not run on Intel Macs. The links are pinned to the v0.2.38 tag: the Requirements link points at the README line stating "macOS 14 or newer and an Apple-silicon Mac", and the Release Notes link is the v0.2.38 release. This evidence is the developer's own README and release, not an independent test.

Its free Local mode runs Whisper or Parakeet on device. With Local transcription and Polishing off or using a local endpoint, dictation audio and transcript text stay on the Mac. Hosted Polishing sends text to the chosen provider, and optional paid Cloud transcription uploads audio.

Disclosure: submitted on behalf of Konrad, Plainsay's developer, by his assistant; the text was drafted with AI assistance.
