What

Since main last passed CI (23 September), new advisories have made the npm audit step fail on every branch.

  • npm audit fix updates package-lock.json only:
    • proxy-addr 2.0.7 → 2.0.8 (critical, GHSA-jqcg-44mw-7w3h, reached through Express);
    • brace-expansion → 5.0.12 (three high-severity DoS advisories).
  • The remaining advisory, braces (GHSA-vfj7-8cjw-p6xm), has no fixed release. Only the dev dependency nodemon reaches it, through chokidar, and npm audit offers nothing but a breaking downgrade to nodemon@1.14.10. CI now runs npm audit --omit=dev, so it checks the dependencies that ship to production.

Testing

  • npm test: 164/164 pass.
  • npm audit --omit=dev: 0 vulnerabilities.

npm audit fix lifts proxy-addr to 2.0.8 (GHSA-jqcg-44mw-7w3h, reached
through Express) and brace-expansion to 5.0.12. The remaining braces
advisory has no fixed release and only reaches the dev dependency
nodemon through chokidar, so CI now audits production dependencies,
which is what ships.
