@egyedt thanks for asking me to review this, however at this time I unfortunately can't merge it. Upgrading to slf4j2 would break the logger bindings and there is KIP-1064 about this where the community decided to postpone this until Kafka 5: https://lists.apache.org/thread/z05rlzbjv89rpvzjmzsr8v4w17qn21r1 |

I would be in favor of a 5.0 release sometime soonish, after 4.4-4.5 though. |
