Adds opt-in
preferredWidthandpreferredHeightattributes so auxiliary panels retain their chosen pixel sizes while flexible siblings absorb space from window resizing or panels closing, floating, or merging. Splitters update preferences, which persist through serialization and recover after temporary shrinking. Existing weight-only behavior is preserved.Includes nested-layout support, documentation, a runnable example, and regression tests. Splitter callbacks use grouped actions when preferences are involved, keeping weight and preference updates together.
Related requests: #56 — specify panel sizes and #148 — fixed panel width.
I'm leaving this draft for now but any feedback is welcome and appreciated. I was planning on using this branch and new feature for a bit over in https://github.com/altendky/scansor/ before considering it ready.
