chore: keep the chore label off Dependabot pull requests - #69
Conversation
- PR Labeler skips pull requests opened by Dependabot. Their titles start with chore(deps), so the autolabeler added chore on top of Dependabot's own dependencies and ecosystem labels. - Dependabot here gets explicit labels; left to its defaults it also applies a major, minor or patch label when the repository has one.

workflow removes major, minor, and patch labels from Dependabot pull requests;
do not rely on the labels option to suppress those release-drafter labels.

Explicit labels do not stop Dependabot's semver labels, so the setting only repeated the defaults. A skip-release label in the repositories that have major, minor and patch labels handles that instead.
Before: the shared PR Labeler ran on Dependabot pull requests too. Their titles start with
chore(deps), so they got achorelabel, and release-drafter filed them under Maintenance instead of Dependencies.After: the labeler skips pull requests opened by
dependabot[bot]. They keep only Dependabot's own labels (dependenciesplus the ecosystem), so they land under Dependencies in the release notes.How: one
if:on thelabel_prjob. Every repository that calls this reusable workflow picks it up.The
major/minor/patchlabels that Dependabot adds itself are handled separately: Dependabot skips them when the repository has askip-releaselabel, which now exists in commit-check and commit-check-action (the only repositories with those labels). An earlier commit here set explicitlabels:in dependabot.yml; that does not stop the semver labels, so it was dropped.
