test: cover the redirect stubs the build writes - #60
Conversation
scripts/mkdocs_hooks.py is the site's only code and had no tests. Cover both hosts (Netlify skips the .html stubs), site URLs with and without a trailing slash or none at all, and two invariants the comments state: no stub redirects to another, and rules/ and configuration/ never move.

The current

119-120: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winNormalize protected route keys before asserting them.
MOVED_URLSuses each key directly insite / old / "index.html". A future"rules/"or"configuration/"key would therefore overwrite the corresponding page, while the current assertions would still pass.Suggested test correction

Summary
scripts/mkdocs_hooks.py(the post-build hook that writes redirect stubs for old Sphinx URLs and retired pages) is the only code in this repository, and no test imported it. This addstests/mkdocs_hooks_test.py, which the existingdocs-syncjob already runs (pytest tests/). No workflow change.scripts/mkdocs_hooks.pyWhat the tests check:
MOVED_URLSgets<old>/index.htmland every entry inLEGACY_URLSgets<name>.html, each pointing at the right target;#cc003;NETLIFY=true) only the retired-page stubs are written;rules/andconfiguration/(linked from every released CLI) are never moved.Note on CI
The
docs-syncjob will be red on this PR for a reason outside it: commit-check v2.19.3 is now on PyPI, andtest_pinned_revisions_match_the_released_versionfails becauseconfiguration.md,example.mdandguides/pre-commit.mdstill pin v2.19.2. The next run onmainfails the same way. That needs its own version bump PR.Test plan
pytest tests/withcommit-check==2.19.3: the 8 new tests pass; the only failure is the version pin above.coverage run --branch --include='scripts/*' -m pytest tests/: 100%.Summary by CodeRabbit
