Documents the new dataCollection.mcp option for the JavaScript SDK (getsentry/sentry-javascript#25553, spec 0.14.0). mcp controls MCP request and response content and takes precedence over genAI. Until v12, MCP servers fall back to the matching genAI field when an mcp field isn't set, so existing genAI settings keep working.

• Options: new mcp row, plus a note on genAI that mcp takes precedence for MCP servers
• MCP monitoring + product getting-started: use mcp as the global control, and document the genAI fallback and the version
• Data collected: new "MCP Requests And Responses" section

Draft until the SDK PR is merged and released. The docs assume 11.9.0 as the first version with this option. Update the version if it ships in a different release.

What changed

JavaScript docs pages now describe the dataCollection.mcp option. This option controls MCP request and response content. It takes precedence over genAI. MCP servers still follow genAI when mcp is unset.

sentry-docs must deploy before this text is live. The files are MDX under docs/ and ship on docs.sentry.io only.

Risk

These files sit in JavaScript common docs. A render fault can hit every JavaScript guide that inherits them. Users can see a crashed page or a missing page. The product MCP getting-started page has the same render risk.

Intended effect

This is a documentation edit. Telemetry cannot show that the new mcp copy is present. Do not use page-load volume as proof the copy landed. Report intended_effect unknown from telemetry. Absent would mean the live pages still describe only genAI for MCP content.

Regression watch

Watch client errors and missing pages on the JavaScript docs that inherit this common MDX. Also watch the product MCP getting-started page. Pair each count with page-load volume for that same population.

The 24h error titles are existing client noise. They include a minified TypeError, Algolia fetch failures, and kapa widget failures. Treat a new title or a sharp rise as this change until proven otherwise.

Live page text for the new mcp option. 24h docs.page.load volume for JavaScript paths did not return. Pageload traces for JavaScript mcp-monitoring URLs did not return.
