Summary

Upgrades OpenAPI Generator from 7.12.0 to 7.26.0 for the Python SDK. This will ship as 2.0.0.

Breaking changes

• Python 3.10 or later is required. Support for Python 3.8 and 3.9 is dropped, matching the generator (#20909, #22926, #24280). pip keeps installing 1.x on older Python versions.
• Minimum dependencies: urllib3 >= 2.8.0 (raised above upstream's 2.7.0 to fix CVE-2026-97687) and pydantic >= 2.11.

No other breaking changes: existing classes, methods, model fields and package exports are unchanged. 1.x continues to receive security and bug-fix patches per the SDK versioning policy.

Proxy detection

Proxy settings are now detected automatically (#24082, #24716). When Configuration.proxy is not set, the SDK uses the environment (HTTPS_PROXY, HTTP_PROXY, ALL_PROXY) and, on macOS and Windows, the system proxy settings. Previously, a proxy was only used when set explicitly.

• Bypass for the Dropbox Sign API: NO_PROXY=api.hellosign.com or configuration.no_proxy = "api.hellosign.com".
• Ignore all proxy settings: configuration.proxy = None after creating the Configuration (passing proxy=None to the constructor does not disable detection).
• SOCKS proxies require urllib3[socks].

Visible, backwards-compatible changes

• to_json() serializes datetimes (#23210); to_dict() keeps None items in lists (#24357).
• Boolean query parameters are sent as true / false (#24359).
• ApiException messages list the response body and data separately (#22352).
• Responses with unlisted status codes are deserialized using the default response (#24309).

New capabilities

• Configuration accepts new optional settings: mTLS (cert_file, key_file), no_proxy, proxy_ssl_context, retries as a urllib3.Retry (#22229, #23021, #24539, #22867).

Kept for backwards compatibility

• File downloads still return a file-like object, and multipart uploads still accept files: upstream maps format: binary to bytes since #22988.
• from dropbox_sign import * exports the same names: upstream's __all__ (#21185) is not used.
• Package metadata (name, author, URLs) is unchanged.

Tests

Unit tests pass on Python 3.10, 3.11, 3.13 and 3.14. The README includes an "Upgrading to 2.0.0" section.
