The Source Control Git switch was a read-only availability indicator, so huge or slow repositories could not stop Git work. The switch now writes enableVersionControl, and detection, status, identity sweeps, and auto-pull skip Git when it is off.

What Changed
Settings → Source Control → Version control can turn Git off for the environment or for one project. When it is off, the app treats that workspace as having no repository: status, fetch, worktree commands, checkpoints, identity sweeps, and auto-pull do not run Git. Turning it back on clears the cached “not a repo” status so Git runs again.
Why
The Git switch was disabled and only showed that Git was installed. Users with huge or slow repositories, including git-svn, had no way to stop version-control work.
