Motivation & Context

RedisVL 0.31.0 is now published with Python 3.15 support. The Redis connector, standard install, and test workflow still exclude Python 3.15 because earlier RedisVL releases did not support it. Remove those restrictions so Redis-backed history, context retrieval, and vector storage are available on Python 3.15.

Upstream release: https://github.com/redis/redis-vl-python/releases/tag/v0.31.0 (includes redis/redis-vl-python#768).

Description & Review Guide

  • What are the major changes? Widen the RedisVL bound to redisvl>=0.11.0,<0.32 while retaining 0.31.0 in the workspace lock. Remove the Redis connector's Python upper bound, add its Python 3.15 classifier, and remove the Python-version marker on Redis in core's all extra. Refresh uv.lock, remove Redis from the CI exclusion, and update the installation and development documentation.
  • What is the impact of these changes? Redis is included on Python 3.15 instead of being omitted. Older RedisVL releases are excluded on Python 3.15 by their own Requires-Python metadata, but remain available on compatible older Python versions without raising our existing lower bound. After merging current main, CI retains the separate Foundry Local exclusion on Python 3.15; the full frozen workspace lock remains scoped to Python 3.11–3.14. No connector implementation or public API changes are needed.
  • What do you want reviewers to focus on? The widened dependency range, preservation of the existing lower bound, removal of both Redis packaging exclusions, and inclusion of Redis in the existing Python 3.15 test lane without removing unrelated integration limits.

uv lock --project python --check and git diff --check — passed. Core and Redis wheel builds and imports through both namespaces on Python 3.15 passed during initial validation. Live Redis integration tests and Windows execution were not run locally; the existing CI jobs provide those environments.

🟡 Changes recommended

The PowerShell step can mask a failed Azure Identity import when the subsequent Redis import succeeds and resets $LASTEXITCODE to zero, allowing the smoke check to pass incorrectly.

MAF Automated Review — Iteration 1

Result: No findings
Scope: full PR (1 commit(s)): 6dcf21e3f819
Model: gpt-5.6-sol

Overview

The PR consistently enables the Redis integration on Python 3.15 by updating the bounded RedisVL dependency, package metadata, lockfile, documentation, and CI installation coverage. The frozen lock, full Linux 3.15 workspace lane, Windows wheel installation probe, and existing Redis unit and integration suites provide concrete compatibility guardrails. No supported Critical, High, or Medium defect remains after reconciliation.

Reviewed the supplied pull-request change set across correctness, security/reliability, architecture, and failure behavior.
No publishable findings remained after source verification for this scope.
