Open-source engineering out of 🦞 Maine, USA — run by 🧑🔬 Matt Davis, a Python 🐍 and Django developer since 2007, maintainer of pipenv, and a member of the Python Packaging Authority.
Most of what we publish here comes out of one stubborn idea: hardware you own should run software you can read. That means cameras that record to your LAN instead of someone's cloud, SoC drivers written from scratch instead of vendor blobs, and workflow tooling that gets organizations off proprietary SaaS.

|---|---|
| LightNVR | A fully open-source, lightweight network video recorder written in C with a modern JS frontend. Past its first year and running on a growing deployment base. |
| light-object-detect | Lightweight Python API for object detection, built to pair with LightNVR. |
| lightnvr-hassio-addons | Home Assistant add-ons for LightNVR. |
Clean open implementations of the ISP driver and media stack for Ingenic camera SoCs, so thingino-firmware users can run fully open camera firmware instead of vendor blobs. This work has also produced coordinated security disclosures for boot ROM vulnerabilities affecting these chips.

|---|---|
| open-tx-isp | Open-source T-series ISP driver — T23, T31, and T40 have working streams. |
| openimp | An open implementation replacing libimp, the vendor media stack. |
| thingino-accel | Open-source neural network runtime for Ingenic MIPS. |
| thingino-provisioner | ESP32-C3 Wi-Fi scanner and Thingino camera portal provisioner. |
| atbm · atbm-cli | Wi-Fi driver work and tooling for ATBM parts. |

|---|---|
| django-forms-workflows | An enterprise-grade Django app: database-driven form builder with approval workflows and external data integration. Built to get organizations off proprietary SharePoint/Power Automate workflows, and to fill the gap between simple form libraries and expensive SaaS. |

|---|---|
| smartdiff | Intelligent code diff using AST analysis — compares structure, not lines. Detects moved functions and refactoring patterns, filters formatting noise. Ships an MCP server for AI agents. |
| bn_cline_mcp | An MCP server bridging Binary Ninja into AI coding agents — the reverse-engineering half of the driver work above. |
| Project | |
|---|---|
| growmax | MicroPython firmware for the GrowMax automation board: 8-channel moisture sensing, MOSFET pump control, CO2/temp/humidity/pH monitoring, and cloud integration for precision agriculture. |
| fleetq | Self-hosted print queue and fleet manager for Prusa printers — an OSS PrusaConnect replacement that stays on your LAN. Includes a Home Assistant add-on. |
| nux-effects | Open firmware, recovery tooling, and DSP development for NUX Core Deluxe effects pedals. |
| pico-serprog · pico-audio-chime | RP2040 flashing and audio utilities. |
| rpi5-resources | Tutorials and resources for the Raspberry Pi 5, with an emphasis on AI + cameras. |
Sponsorship covers the real costs behind these projects: 🤖 AI credits and local GPU inference that drive the reverse-engineering and driver work, 📷 camera and dev hardware that mostly gets torn apart, ⚙️ tooling and licenses, hosting for demos and CI, and the unpaid hours of triage, review, and disclosure coordination that keep it all maintained.
