Standalone ClusterObjectDeployment users have an API reference but no complete walkthrough. Add a draft tutorial and reusable ConfigMap sample covering standalone installation, ownership, template changes and forward A → B → A revisions, status and failure diagnostics, deadlines and recovery, referenced content, history retention, and cleanup.
Embed the sample in the tutorial so the rendered manifest stays aligned with the executable example, and link the guide from the COS concepts page.
Add a reusable sample and a tutorial for installing the standalone
object-controller and managing ClusterObjectDeployment revisions.
Explain ownership, forward revisions, status, deadlines, recovery,
referenced content, history retention, and cleanup using the merged API.
Embed the sample in the tutorial so its rendered manifest stays aligned
with the executable example, and link it from the COS concepts page.

Details
Needs approval from an approver in each of these files:
Adds a ClusterObjectDeployment sample and a linked tutorial. The tutorial covers standalone controller installation, initial deployment, revision changes, rollout status and deadlines, archived revision retention, and cleanup.
Sample and first revision config/samples/olm_v1_clusterobjectdeployment.yaml, docs/draft/concepts/clusterobjectsets.md, docs/draft/tutorials/manage-clusterobjectdeployments.md
Adds a COD sample and links to a tutorial that explains controller installation, the first revision, and its managed resources.
Revision updates and rollout status docs/draft/tutorials/manage-clusterobjectdeployments.md
Describes template revision triggers, A → B → A updates, COD and COS conditions, and progress deadline behavior.
Revision retention and cleanup docs/draft/tutorials/manage-clusterobjectdeployments.md
Describes archived-revision retention, immutable Secret references, the distinction from the current ClusterExtension path, and cleanup steps.
This adds a tutorial and sample with no production code changes. A few documentation gaps could mislead users or delete unrelated resources on a shared cluster, so fix the cleanup guidance and prerequisites before merging.

Explanation
The title "📖 OPRUN-4796: Document standalone ClusterObjectDeployment workflows" uses the docs prefix icon and names the main change: a new documentation tutorial for standalone ClusterObjectDeployment workflows. The changeset adds a draft tutorial, a reusable ConfigMap sample, and a link from the COS concepts page, so the title matches the primary change.

Explanation
The description covers the required content. It explains the motivation (an API reference exists but no complete walkthrough), lists the added tutorial and sample, and states the embedding and linking choices. It also gives validation steps and the reviewer checklist from the template. The checklist items are unchecked, and no related GitHub issue link appears beyond the Jira reference, but the description is mostly complete.

Document the chart's control-plane node requirement.
The Helm defaults apply nodeSelector.node-role.kubernetes.io/control-plane: "" to the object-controller and tolerate the matching taint. On a test cluster without a schedulable node carrying that label, the Deployment remains pending and the rollout times out. The tutorial neither documents this requirement nor overrides the selector.
This is a narrow compatibility issue, not a general failure on clusters that provide the standard control-plane label.

## Prerequisites
- A Kubernetes test cluster where you can install CRDs and cluster-scoped RBAC.
+- A schedulable node labeled `node-role.kubernetes.io/control-plane`, or a+ customized `deployments.templateSpec.nodeSelector` value for the controller.
- `kubectl` and Helm, with `kubectl` configured for the test cluster.

Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Correct the missing-Secret diagnostic.
A missing referenced Secret returns a retryable read error; it does not set Ready=False/PreconditionsNotMet. A new COS can remain Unknown/Pending, with the error in controller logs. Distinguish this case from a mutable Secret. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Require a fresh namespace before deleting it.
The prerequisites require a fresh group, but not a fresh cod-example namespace. If that namespace already exists, the final command deletes its unrelated resources too. Require a fresh namespace or make cleanup conditional on the tutorial having created it.

The test-cluster prerequisite and “If ... installed only for this walkthrough” wording make this cleanup optional, not unconditional. However, the rendered manifest includes the olmv1-system namespace and the COD/COS CRDs. If those resources are shared, deleting the manifest can remove unrelated resources. Add an explicit warning:
