Make the full panel easier to reach from the hub rail #336

Closed

Description

What happens

With the hub mounted, the floating button opens /__devframes/, which shows a left rail with one icon per tool (Angular, NgRx, Analog, Angular Native, NativeScript, Capacitor). Each icon opens one view of that tool.

The full panel, with the whole top tab bar (Dashboard, Components, Routes, Signals, Injectors, Store, Forms, Pipes, SSR & HTTP, Capacitor and so on), is a different entry point: /__devframes/pangular/, which also takes a deep link such as #tab=capacitor. Nothing in the rail or in any dock links to it, so a user has to know the URL.

Why it is confusing

  • This applies to every tool, not one: opening a dock shows that tool's view, and the other tabs of the same panel are not visible next to it.
  • The dock views and the full panel are the same app, so it is not obvious that the rest of the panel is one URL away.

Options

  1. Keep the rail as the default and add a visible link from each dock to the full panel.
  2. Open the full panel by default and keep the rail as the secondary view.

Related: docks for tools that are not available

A dock whose tool has nothing to show today opens a placeholder page instead (setup steps, or a notice such as the Analog one in a non-Analog app). Proposal: show those docks as blocked in the rail, with a tooltip that says why and how to enable the tool, and remove the placeholder pages.

The Capacitor placeholder also carries setup steps that help someone who has not connected an app yet. If the pages go, that guidance needs a new home, for example the tooltip text and a link to the setup guide.

This needs a decision from the maintainers, so I have not changed anything.

Where I saw it

Found while testing #308 on the demo app at localhost:4200, at af2ca6c.
