Problem

On iPhone, Attach visible output sits under the home indicator at the bottom of the terminal. The button only has py-2, and the iOS terminal column has no bottom inset.

Change

The button's bottom padding now adds the safe-area bottom inset, from the same source the screen uses for its top inset.

Scope and approval

Small fix for an obvious bug. Android's row already pads by insets.bottom and is unchanged.

Verification

On the iOS 27 simulator, I dismissed the keyboard in a terminal. Before the fix, the home indicator crosses the label and the corner clips it. With the fix, the label sits above it. Simulator recordings leave out the home indicator, so it's drawn in at its system position.

Approvability

Verdict: Approved at a6de94e

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This small iOS-only fix adds the native bottom safe-area inset to the existing Attach visible output control, keeping it above the home indicator while leaving behavior and Android layout unchanged. It is a contained UI correction with no broader API, workflow, or configuration impact.

Walkthrough

The non-Android “Attach visible output” control now uses 8 points of top padding. Its bottom padding is 8 points while the keyboard is visible. When the keyboard is hidden, bottom padding includes the native column safe-area inset, falling back to the device inset.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title names the fix and its target: iOS terminal's Attach visible output button overlapping the home indicator. The raw summary confirms the changed file adds the safe-area bottom inset to that button's padding, so the title matches the main change. It follows the conventional commit form and is specific.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description follows the template's Problem, Change, Scope and approval, and Verification sections. The Problem and Change sections are clear and match the raw summary. The Scope section gives a small-fix rationale and notes that Android is unchanged. Verification describes manual iOS simulator checks with before/after GIFs. The template asks for a triaged issue or maintainer approval for scope, or a justification for a very small obvious bug. The author gives the small-fix justification but links no issue. The description also omits the conventional commit title note, which is not required in the body. The PR objectives report that reviewers could not verify the change on their environment and that before/after verification needs a native iOS device or simulator. The author's simulator evidence partly addresses this, but the reviewers' concerns about keyboard behavior, orientation, and the safe-area fallback remain unaddressed. Because the description is mostly complete, the check passes. The author should still address the reviewers' open verification points and confirm the small-fix exemption.

Verified in a real dev environment

no changed behavior could be exercised on this linux boat vm. this result is unverifiable, not a runtime pass.

inspected the description, discussion, inline reviews, and exact commit a6de94ed8543f1eb3693bd8e44961ecf06d6ecc4. the pr is open and has no commits by @juliusmarminge or @t3dotgg. the change adds the native bottom safe-area inset to the ios terminal attachment control. this control requires a selected thread and a native terminal surface. a mobile-sized web viewport cannot exercise it.

prerequisite results:

uname: Linux x86_64
xcrun: not installed
adb devices -l: no devices attached
device_list: Agent device access is turned off for this environment.

the mobile verification skill requires stopping verification when device access is unavailable. no worktree installation, dev server, provider turn, code change, or push was performed. no screenshots or recordings were captured because the affected client could not run. git.cafe reports 28 successful checks; these do not establish runtime behavior.

Not verified

  • original overlap on github/main and clearance above the ios home indicator on the pr head.
  • attachment capture and return to the composer through a real codex gpt-6.1-sol thread.
  • keyboard dismissal/reopening and android terminal attachment behavior.
  • native portrait/landscape and safe-area fallback behavior.

a native ios device or simulator with device access enabled is required to complete before/after verification. web or server-only checks cannot establish this fix.

Verified on Android emulator (API 35) against a real dev server

not performed. the verification brief explicitly requires stopping when the change is ios-only.

inspected the exact head a6de94ed8543f1eb3693bd8e44961ecf06d6ecc4, diff, discussion, reviews, and checks. the pr is open and its sole commit is by Claudesaul, with no commits by @juliusmarminge or @t3dotgg.

the changed Attach visible output control in apps/mobile/src/features/terminal/ThreadTerminalRouteScreen.tsx is guarded by Platform.OS !== "android". android renders a separate unchanged Attach output row and already applies its bottom inset. an android emulator cannot exercise the changed control or prove clearance above the ios home indicator.

the current device catalog reports android available and ios unavailable: iOS Simulators need macOS with Xcode. no emulator, dev server, installation, provider turn, checkout change, code change, or push was started. no runtime screenshots or recordings were captured. the 28 successful ci checks are not runtime verification.

Not verified

  • ios cannot run on this linux vm. the original overlap and changed safe-area padding require an ios device or simulator.
  • attachment capture and return to the composer through a real codex gpt-6.1-sol turn.
  • keyboard dismissal/reopening, orientation changes, and android neighboring behavior.

result: unverifiable here under the brief's ios-only stop rule.

Verified in a real dev environment

no changed behavior was verified in this attempt. result: unverifiable on this linux boat vm.

re-read the description, discussion, reviews, diff, and exact head source at a6de94ed8543f1eb3693bd8e44961ecf06d6ecc4. github independently confirms the pr is open, unmerged, and has one commit by Claudesaul, with no commits by @juliusmarminge or @t3dotgg. git.cafe reports 28 successful checks, zero pending, and zero failing; this is not runtime proof.

the affected control is the native non-android terminal's Attach visible output button. it requires a selected thread and hasNativeTerminalSurface(). its action dismisses the keyboard and requests terminal capture. the change adds the native bottom safe-area inset to its bottom padding. android renders a separate unchanged control. web browser emulation cannot exercise the ios home indicator or this native path.

current prerequisite transcript:

uname: Linux x86_64
xcrun: unavailable
device_list: Agent device access is turned off for this environment.

.agents/skills/test-t3-mobile/SKILL.md requires stopping verification when device access is unavailable. no worktree installation, dev server, provider turn, code modification, or push was performed. no runtime screenshots or recordings were captured, and no author-supplied captures are presented as new verification.

Not verified

  • reproduction on github/main and safe-area clearance on the exact pr head; an accessible native ios device or simulator is required.
  • attachment capture and return to the composer through a real codex gpt-6.1-sol thread.
  • nearby keyboard dismissal/reopening, portrait/landscape layout, inset fallback, and android attachment behavior.

no fix is proposed without reproducing the behavior. native verification remains blocked by disabled device access and the absence of an ios runtime here.

applied the merge-review request: the attachment control adds the bottom safe-area inset only while the keyboard is hidden. its capture action and android control are unchanged. merged current main without conflicts and pushed 5aee4cf877 to the existing head branch. the diff against main remains one file, eight added lines and one removed line.

blacksmith vp run check:changed refs/remotes/github/main passed format, lint, both knip checks, mobile/scripts typechecks, and react compiler validation with six existing tests passing. two independent code reviews found no issues. all 29 ci checks passed with no conflicts. the only bot finding is the missing native ios before/after evidence, which remains unresolved.

native ios runtime verification and new visual evidence are unavailable: this linux vm has no ios runtime, and device access reports disabled. browser emulation cannot exercise the native terminal or home indicator. keyboard transitions, attachment capture, and safe-area placement remain unverified.

Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Add native iOS before/after evidence for this visual change.

Capture the button after keyboard dismissal on an iOS device or simulator with a non-zero bottom safe-area inset. Show clearance above the home indicator in both the before and after states. Do not add a unit test for this visual-only change.

valid verification gap. this linux vm has no ios runtime, and the device tool reports "Agent device access is turned off for this environment." native before/after evidence cannot be captured here. leaving this thread unresolved. all 29 checks and blacksmith scoped checks pass on 5aee4cf877; native layout and keyboard transitions remain unverified.

@maria-rcks Understood. The reported passing checks do not verify native iOS layout or keyboard transitions. This thread should remain open for that verification gap, not a confirmed code defect.

When an iOS device or simulator is available, retry the before/after check with a non-zero bottom safe-area inset. Document the button’s position relative to the home indicator after keyboard dismissal, and check the keyboard transitions.
