Check the agent-device version before reusing a local daemon.

startAgentDeviceDaemon reuses an existing daemon when daemon.json parses and /health returns 200. It never compares daemon.json's version with the installed agent-device version. The SSH host does compare versions and stops the previous daemon. A healthy daemon from an older release can therefore stay in place after the server upgrades to 0.21.31. The repository comment in scripts/mobile-e2e.ts says a daemon refuses clients of another version, so the reused daemon can reject the new CLI. The daemon's refusal behavior comes from the agent-device package, which is not in this checkout. Its contract is therefore asserted by repository comments and the PR text, not by inspected code.

The trigger is narrower than a crash. An unhealthy or crashed daemon fails the /health check, so its daemon.json is removed and a new daemon starts. The stale daemon must still answer /health. That can happen when the T3 server exits but the daemon keeps running, because the code sets AGENT_DEVICE_DAEMON_IDLE_TIMEOUT_MS: "0" and the comment says "the server owns shutdown."

A correction should do the following before reuse:

  • Read existing.value.version and compare it with the installed agent-device version.
  • When the versions differ, or the version is missing, stop the old daemon with stopAgentDeviceDaemon and remove daemon.json, as the SSH path does at sshDeviceScript.ts:209-213.
  • Start the new daemon only after that cleanup.

The installed version must come from the same source the server uses. This function does not expose it, so the exact expression is not established here.
