fix(android): threads show their model and effort without opening the keyboard - #25881
On Android, you can't tell which provider and model a thread is using unless you focus the composer and open the keyboard. This applies whether you open a new thread or return to one that is already running. Until then the composer shows only the text field, so there's no way to tell whether the thread is on the model you picked or the default.
This gets painful when several threads run on different models. To check which model a thread uses before sending a follow-up, you have to tap into the composer in every thread. iPhone already shows the model in this state; Android doesn't.
Fix
Android only; iPhone is unchanged.
Unfocused: the single-row composer now always shows the provider icon, the model name, and a short effort label (M, H, XH, taken from the selected option), followed by the chevron. Fast is left out here, matching iPhone. Screen readers still hear the full model and effort names.
Focused: focusing the input switches to the two-row layout (text on top, toolbar below), as in Android 2.0.0. The toolbar shows the full effort and Fast (only when Fast is on). When the full labels don't fit, for example on a narrow phone with a large font, the toolbar falls back to the short effort plus Fast and truncates the model name. Previously it showed GPT-6-… Medium ….
Typing, multiline growth, attachments, send/stop, and the settings sheet keep their existing behavior.
The short effort labels come from a shared buildTraitsTriggerDisplay helper in client-runtime, which now also returns them. Unknown effort names are kept whole rather than guessed.
Scope and approval
No prior issue or discussion. This is submitted under the small, focused bug-fix exception: on Android the composer hides the selected model whenever the input is unfocused, so you can't tell which model a thread uses without opening the keyboard, while iPhone shows it in the same state. The PR fixes only that, in the Android composer's model control (ThreadComposer, ComposerModelControl, ComposerToolbar), plus a small shared helper for the short effort labels. iPhone layout, settings, and provider rules are unchanged. Happy to open an issue first if maintainers prefer.

Verification
How I proved it: checked on an Android emulator (isolated dev server, GPT-6.1 Terra, Extra High, Fast on) against the head commit, plus a new focused test.
Emulator (sdk_gphone64_arm64, 1080×2400 at 420dpi, and 900×2400 ≈ 343dp at font scale 1.3):
Unfocused: 6.1 Terra XH.
Focused: 6.1 Terra Extra High Fast.
Narrow + large font: 6.1 Ter… XH unfocused, and 6.1 Terra XH Fast focused.
An earlier emulator pass on the first commit also covered:
Idle, running, interrupted, completed, and reopened threads.
Switching between threads on different models, where each showed its own model.
Opening model settings during a running turn.
Two effort values, Fast on → off (the effort stays), attachments, send/stop, and dismissing with Android Back.
vp test run packages/client-runtime/src/modelTraits.test.ts covers the effort abbreviations, unknown labels, and Fast on/off.
vp run check:changed upstream/main passes (format, lint, knip, typecheck, tests).
Not checked: queue resume, T3 dictation, provider-change restrictions during an active task, and physical Android tablets.
Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This is a localized Android composer UI fix that exposes existing model and effort data, with optional layout behavior and no changes to product defaults or static-analysis configuration. Existing shared label behavior and iOS paths remain intact, and the new trait formatting is covered by tests.

Walkthrough
The change adds compact trait metadata and width-aware rendering to the mobile model control. On Android, the thread composer adjusts editor expansion and toolbar sizing based on focus and measured width.
buildTraitsTriggerDisplay now returns compact effort and speed labels. Tests cover known abbreviations, unknown effort labels, and fast-mode output.
Width-aware model control apps/mobile/src/components/ComposerModelControl.tsx, apps/mobile/src/components/ComposerToolbar.tsx
ComposerModelControl measures the full control when fitWidth is set and uses compact trait content when it exceeds the available width. ComposerInlineControl can keep its suffix from shrinking.
On Android, the composer forces the compact editor expanded while focused, measures the expanded toolbar width, and applies platform-specific minimum-width and model-control settings.
