Summary

trigger now addresses /messaging/{numberId}/test-events, sends fromNumber via --from-number, and omits body session. trigger --list reads /messaging/test-events/fixtures. Neither requires --project; no --from-session alias remains. History fixture uploads keep --project and move to /messaging/projects/{projectId}/test-history-fixtures.

Keep sandbox:read / sandbox:write. API dependency: polymorfa/polymorfa#792, currently stacked on #647. Exact six-route source pin remains 79e62733b1b3d523618232a3794e26df64b7f486. No old public /messaging/sandbox/* consumer exists in this repository.

Impact

Impact table

Area Updated / blocked Change or blocker Evidence
CLI Updated Trigger/history commands, flags, requests, help, examples and tests; exact API pin. Pin formatting repaired. Compatible MCP server/core 2.0.0 to 2.3.1 dependency update fixes a high audit advisory; audit gate remains strict. Source, tests, contracts and README in this PR
API and companion client Blocked on coordinated merge Number-scoped API precedes release; SDK/CLI drafts remain coordinated. CLI uses released SDK raw transport. polymorfa/polymorfa#792, polymorfa/sdks#359, #88
Public docs, Help Center, roadmap Blocked Frozen public MDX and docs app belong to #783. Help Center/Linear/Notion inaccessible in this child; no synchronization claimed. API docs handoff in #792
Release Blocked on acceptance No package publication, deployed API availability or installed-client acceptance claimed. API release record in #792

No impact table

Area Why there is no impact Evidence
Libraries, runners/Bartender, Temporal, Admin API/MCP/UI, Logs/audit, billing/PAYG, Usage, Analytics and consented tracking Client path/contract changes introduce no protocol, storage, staff grant, metering or tracking behavior. Diff is client/contracts/docs/tests plus the MCP dependency security update; API implementation owned by #792
Inspector, Console UI and onboarding controls Private/native consumers do not call removed public pool routes; no UI controls change here. #792 legacy consumer inventory; existing Test-number creation unchanged
Flags, entitlements and sandbox scopes Existing Test-number beta authority and exact scope strings remain. No configuration/flag/migration edits
Other SDK packages/languages This route surface is owned by the TypeScript server SDK; other packages do not expose these methods. SDK coverage ledger and source inventory

Verification

Exact head fa9ff0d5bf843ae0d0c0fe04fa870e3def35ede3 contains current main 301bd6afd019aa8422cc91912424981387effb25 (ancestor check passed). Natural pull-request CI run 39563068461 succeeded on this exact head using GitHub-hosted ubuntu-latest, runner group GitHub Actions (Node 22). No workflow dispatch or review request.

Local Node 22 checks: 1,051 tests in 110 files; 3 release-evidence tests; format, lint, typecheck, build, package dry run; zero production audit vulnerabilities. The prior failed natural run is superseded by this source fix and successful run. Browser, attended/provider, deployed API and package acceptance were not exercised overnight.

Session provenance and UI evidence

Registration: polymorfa/polymorfa#511 (purpshell-t3-codex). This app-owned child was absent from the local recorder SQLite projection; no successful transcript checkpoint is claimed. Sanitized consumer/verification receipt is in #792's local follow-up commit 82843c052072994e00c120a52ccfb6a4ae98c893, pending the dependency push gate. No UI implementation changed; screenshots are not applicable.

Rollout and rollback

Keep this draft main-based. Land API #792 after #647 and qualified-dev integration, then coordinate SDK/CLI integration, publication and matching staging/production acceptance separately. No package publication or environment release is authorized here. No migration, flag, scope rename or queued-work format changes. Revert this PR to roll back client behavior. Preserve actual review/security gates; draft-skipped bot output is not review clearance.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • CLI Updates
    • Trigger commands now use a Test Number ID to determine the project, so --project is no longer needed for fixture listing or event triggers.
    • The simulated-message option is now --from-number; it accepts a Number ID.
    • Updated command examples explain the revised options and behavior.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Test-history fixture creation now uses the current messaging endpoint.

Explain Change →

Walkthrough

The CLI now uses raw messaging routes for test-event listing and triggering. Trigger operations use Test Number IDs and no longer require --project; history-fixture creation uses a project-scoped messaging endpoint. The reference material and tests reflect these changes.

Changes: Test Number CLI routes

Layer / File(s) Summary
Test-event trigger requests
src/commands/trigger.ts, test/commands/trigger.test.ts, contracts/cli-reference.json, README.md, docs/internal/launch-docs/cli-trigger.mdx, contracts/test-number-dropin-routes.json, docs/internal/2026-10-20-test-number-dropin-routes.md
Fixture listing uses /messaging/test-events/fixtures. Triggering posts to /messaging/{encoded session}/test-events without a body session; the optional sender is sent as fromNumber. The from-session flag changes to from-number, and listing and triggering no longer require --project.
History-fixture creation route
src/commands/testing/history-fixture/create.ts, test/commands/quicklinks.test.ts
History-fixture creation posts validated input to the project-scoped test-history-fixtures endpoint. The test expects the updated path.

Possibly related PRs

  • polymorfa/cli#85: Adds the generated CLI reference and drift check, which this PR updates for the changed trigger flags and examples.
  • polymorfa/cli#33: Changes credential resolution in messagingClient; this PR uses project-token handling for the changed commands.
Merge Risk: Low · up to 44889

Users following the project-token instructions cannot run these commands with that credential. Correct the instructions or credential rule; this is a bounded documentation risk.

P2 Badge Align the documented credentials with the command's auth guard

Users following this new instruction with a project-token profile or POLYMORFA_PROJECT_TOKEN cannot list or trigger fixtures: Trigger.run() still calls messagingClient(flags, {serverApiKeyOnly: 'Test event'}), and src/base-command.ts:148–155 rejects every non-API-key credential before making an HTTP request. Either enable project-token credentials in the command and test that path, or retain the previous server-API-key requirement in this launch snippet.

Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.

Update the remaining trigger examples to match the new contract.

Lines 2215, 2216, and 2218 still pass --project PROJECT_ID. The other examples in this block drop that flag. The text above says Trigger and list need no project flag. Remove --project PROJECT_ID from these three examples for consistency. These lines are unchanged in this PR, so the edit is outside the changed range.

Use the CLI’s server API key requirement.

trigger rejects a project token before it lists fixtures or sends an event. Confirm the credential rule with the API owners before applying the change.
