…age when the component exists
…igation to the sidebar
…1px, no wrapping, fold by rendered height
… row renders again
Use case and Industry chips on a solution overview link to the landing
page filtered to that value, using a new encode-uri helper, and stay text
when the page has no landing URL. The Last verified line says where the
run happened ("on Self-Managed and Cloud") when the record names
platforms, and the evidence title names the content revision it covered.
…alog Recommendation cards lead with the extension's reader-facing why when it is present, the rail entry carries it as a tooltip, and both the article block and the product home block end with an All solutions link. A product home page that names no solutions and has no recommendations now shows up to three catalog solutions that run on that product, featured first, instead of nothing.
Below 1024px the filters sit inside article.doc, whose <details> styling drew a grey panel and a stray chevron around the Filters button.
placeFilters() counted any toggle event as the reader's choice, but the inline script and placeFilters() itself also open and close the filters, so after a resize the narrow copy could stay open on its own. Only a click on the summary now counts. Tests cover the placement on both sides of 1024px and a reader's choice surviving a resize.
…n its own The rail was a sticky column with its own scrollbar. It only scrolled while the pointer was over it, so the build-along files at its bottom could not be reached by scrolling the article, and a gesture that reached its top stayed latched to it like a wall. Its sticky top also ignored the announcement bar, which put the top of the progress card under the header. 31-solution-rail.js now offsets the rail by exactly the amount it overflows, so scrolling down shows its bottom and scrolling up shows its top straight away. Nested scrollers inside the rail are gone, the duplicate feedback thumbs are hidden, and without JS the rail keeps its old scrollbar.

…ction The overview's Steps list gave the last-opened step a strong outline and a filled number, with only screen-reader text saying why, so a reader who had merely opened step 5 saw it as selected. It now shows a visible Last opened label with a light outline, and the hidden status no longer repeats it.
All build-along files now lists the catalog record's files allowlist instead of the public attachments. Each entry downloads that one file through /solutions/download with the same URL builder, sign-in gate and intent=download&path= round trip as the Download control on a code block. A draft renders the entries with no href and the "Download available at release" wording. The panel hides where sign-in is impossible, like the bundle panel, and is absent for download: none. Download error and post-sign-in copy no longer point at public files.
Get the code was a second panel under the TOC with its own sign-in box and an open list of every build-along file. It is now a section of the progress card at the top of the rail: one Download button, one sign-in line (the card's Sign in to sync steps aside when the download is gated), and the file list collapsed on every page. The empty TOC heading gap is gone too.
- Shell commands wrap at spaces; other code that runs past the column fades at the clipped edge (new 32-solution-page.js). - Below 1281px a step page pins the collapsed rail above the article as a sticky bar: Step n of M, the progress bar, and the card and contents. - Complete and continue marks the step and opens the next one; Next becomes the primary action once the step is done. - Continue learning and grid cards list a solution only after a step is done. - The solution crumb shrinks with an ellipsis, so the trail keeps the step; phones drop the article breadcrumb on step pages; Last verified wraps. - Outcomes show check marks, not empty boxes; figures show zoom-in; notes under In production drop their repeated label; Complete source bars are larger; Expected output blocks lose the language label and Ask AI; localhost URLs inside inline code are not links. - No Solutions header link on Solutions pages; Featured shows only in a catalog of 7 or more; cards say Runs on Cloud; the filters toggle has a chevron.
The solution crumb shrinks to 11rem at most, so the step crumb is not squeezed to nothing in the 400px the header leaves. On phones .content is a scroll container (main.css), which pinned the sticky step bar to a box that never scrolls; overflow: clip clips without being one. Notes under In production lose the top gap the hidden label left.
… rail The "Complete source" bars on solution pages inherited zero padding from the generic .doc summary rule while adding their own border, so each one rendered as a 22px pill with the file name against the border and the chevron on top of it, inside a second grey panel. The details is now the box, and the summary gets the same padding as the file header so the two read as one family. Open, the first code block squares its top corners to meet the header. Normal collapsibles had the sibling problem: the bare details[open] > summary padding rule loses to the more specific .doc title rule, so an open accordion's title sat directly on its content. Restored the gap. The rail's full-width primary Mark step complete made the most prominent control on the page an action the reader takes last, and sat above Get the code, the one thing they need first. Removed it. The copy under the article, where a reader who has just finished the step is, is the only one; the script already binds by attribute so nothing else changes.
The code is what a reader needs at the start of a step; progress is something they glance at. Get the code now leads the progress card, above the bar, and the collapsed All build-along files list closes it, so the list never pushes progress down. The two halves of solution-code-download are now solution-code-download (the CTA) and solution-files (the list); both still render the same markup, and the two surfaces tests render both. The section divider moves with it: none above the first section, one before the progress head when the download leads. With download 'none' the partial renders nothing and the head is first with no rule, as before.
The step's own file list sat next to the code and was the one place on the page that could not download anything: plain backticked paths, and a sentence sending the reader to the code-block control or the rail panel. Each path that is in the solution's download allowlist (the rail's All build-along files entries, which are record.files) is now wrapped in the same gated download link as that panel's entry, with the same tray icon: same URL builder, same sign-in round trip, inert for a draft, absent where the bundle CTA is absent. A generated file is not served and stays plain text. Analytics reports the placement as "step" so the three controls can be told apart.
Taking the toggle out of the rail card left steps with a next step with only Complete and continue: no way to mark a step without leaving the page, and no way to un-mark one. A ghost toggle now sits beside Complete and continue; on the last step it stays the primary action.

The edge fade and the fold's bottom fade both used .content::after. The fold sets left: 0, so on a folded block that runs past the column the fade landed on the left edge, over the start of every line, and replaced the fold's own fade. The edge fade is now .content::before with left: auto.
The Mark step complete toggle kept its name once the step was done (only aria-pressed changed), so it read as an offer to complete it again. It is now an action button named for what a click does: Mark step not complete once the step is done. On the last step it is the primary action until then, and a ghost button after. The Next button's grey NEXT kicker measured 1.23:1 on the orange button; it now takes the button's text color (4.6:1).
The menu drops down from the sidebar switcher with no height limit, so on a short window its last entries (Solutions, Open Redpanda Cloud) fell below the screen. It is now capped at the room below its top edge, recomputed on resize, and scrolls inside. On a 1100x520 window the menu ended 323px below the screen; it now ends 12px above the bottom and Solutions is reachable.
Two helpers name platforms everywhere they appear: platform-name for one (Self-Managed, Cloud, Kubernetes) and platform-list for the Last verified phrase (Self-Managed, Cloud, and Kubernetes). Cards say Runs on Kubernetes, and the Runs on filter reads Runs on Kubernetes or Runs on Redpanda Cloud when only one platform narrows the catalog.
