ROS Jazzy intermittent operation

Hello,

After upgrading to ros-jazzy, rqt plot does not work as it used to. Screen stutters, and sometimes stops plotting. I am speculating it is a dds issue.

Any ideas on the problem or has someone else experienced it?

I'm also experiencing this issue.
It works (albeit not very responsive) on slower topics, and for me, it starts to be really intermittent at 10 Hz.

My suspicion is that it could be QoS related.

Hi!

Adding a data point. Same symptom on Jazzy: a micro-ROS Zephyr client publishing best-effort std_msgs at high rate (around 100 Hz, serial transport via micro_ros_agent) shows zero data in rqt_plot. PlotJuggler with reliability set to best_effort plots the exact same topic without issue.

Setup: Ubuntu ARM64 (in UTM/QEMU on macOS), ROS 2 Jazzy, rmw_fastrtps_cpp. Tried a few std_msgs types - same blindness in rqt_plot regardless of which.

Workaround: PlotJuggler.

This lines up with @SuperJappie08's data point above. Higher rate + best-effort seems to be where choose_qos() goes wrong.
