Summary

The 20 rev-1 boards (10 + Alex's 10) have the old SK6812MINI-E-012 land at D_RGB1, drawn from the datasheet's bottom view, so a lens-up LED can't be fitted (see #65). This adds a small adapter that solders onto the old land and carries the SK6812MINI-HS-012 land on top.

  • 6.8 x 5.6 mm, 2 layers, 3 vias; outline clears J_USB1, MH4, R_RGB1/C_RGB1/R_CC2 and the board edge
  • 4x4 panel (16 up, 47.2 x 42.4 mm) with mouse-bite tabs, ready to order as "panel by customer"; the fab minimum of 5 panels (80 adapters) covers all 20 boards
  • Silkscreen on both sides: TOP / BOTTOM, an arrow toward the USB-C connector, the LED pin-1 corner (▲), and the NC pad
  • PCB/led_adapter/generate_led_adapter.py is the source; the .kicad_pcb files and Gerbers are generated from it
  • Order settings and soldering steps in PCB/led_adapter/README.md

Checks

  • kicad-cli pcb drc: 0 violations, 0 unconnected on both the single adapter and the panel
  • Generator asserts every bottom pad lands on the old pad position
  • Drill count: 48 PTH vias (16 x 3), 120 NPTH mouse bites

Still to do

  • After fab: check pad alignment on one rev-1 board before soldering the rest

The 15 rev-1 boards were fabbed with the old SK6812MINI-E-012 land at
D_RGB1, which is the datasheet's bottom view: a lens-up LED is mirrored on
it and no rotation fixes it. This 6.8 x 5.6 mm 2-layer adapter solders onto
that land and carries the SK6812MINI-HS-012 land on top, wired GND/DIN/3V3
through one via each.

- generate_led_adapter.py builds the single adapter and a 4x4 mouse-bite
panel (16 up) with KiCad's Python API, and asserts the bottom pads land
  on the old pad positions.
- Silkscreen on both sides marks TOP/BOTTOM, an arrow toward USB-C, the
LED pin-1 corner, and the NC pad.
- DRC: 0 violations, 0 unconnected on both boards. Panel Gerbers and
  drill files in production/.
- .gitignore: ignore .kicad_prl files in PCB subfolders too.

Alex has 10 rev-1 boards, not 5, so 20 boards need the adapter. Panel is
now 4 columns x 5 rows, 47.2 x 50.0 mm. DRC still 0/0; drill counts 60 PTH
(20 x 3 vias) and 150 NPTH mouse bites (25 tabs x 6).

The fab minimum of 5 panels gives 80 adapters, plenty for the 20 rev-1
boards, so the 4x5 panel isn't needed. DRC 0/0; drill counts 48 PTH and
120 NPTH.

snips_led_adapter.zip is the archive uploaded to JLCPCB on 2026-10-14.
Its copper, mask, outline and drill files match the committed Gerbers;
the silkscreen differs only because the toolkit subtracts mask openings
from it. The panel board and project files are KiCad's re-save from that
run (same geometry: kicad-cli Gerbers are unchanged).
