So, we're downgrading to alpha13 (see saga, issue 378), and it's failing.
I don't have a log snippet, but the interesting bit is something like "write failed," like it's trying to write to a nonexistent disk, or a disk that's full. Weird. There isn't any helpful message at the end, just something like "flash failed."
Another weird clue is that when the systemcore comes up in flash mode, windows mounts some usb storage devices, like a raspberry pi partition. And it also mounts the USB stick that we stuck in it long ago, it's for logs. We do that with all our roborio devices, write logs to USB, so I guess it seemed like a good idea.
Anyway, so I removed the USB stick and tried again, and ... it worked.
So, like, maybe the firmware/OS installer gadget is hunting for volumes to stick stuff on, and gets confused because there's like an extra volume there? Or something? It would have saved us an hour of crushing despair to have some way to figure out what was going wrong.
