Preserve newsletter observations and decode milestone positions - #54
Preserve reported newsletter counts and milestone metadata without choosing an account gate. Missing values stay distinct from reported zeroes and explicit empty reaction maps. Both view definitions remain separate. Milestone positions accept decimal strings or integers without floating-point conversion.
The continuation rejects duplicate view definitions as ambiguous. Added regression cases for equal and conflicting duplicates, preserving independent forwards and reactions. The updated upstream-sync parent #53 is normally merged into this branch, including its cache-race correction and generated attribution.
Qualify the complete family before merging, then merge bottom-up. Business #55 remains under its existing owner.
Verification
Preserved the original staged attribution changes, index bytes and old head before integration.
Resolved only the overlapping changelog additions, retaining both parent and newsletter entries.
The real MEX generator inputs and generated output are byte-identical to the updated parent.
Additional local validation is waived by the human's November 5 workflow. New regression tests are UNRUN locally; historical passes do not qualify the new head.
Require green current-head hosted CI without skipped/cancelled/pending/failed tasks, exhaustive Codex code and security review without remaining findings, and CodeRabbit findings cleared. A CodeRabbit rate-limit skip is allowed.
No new protobuf/version, content export, active request, feature flag, Admin control, QuickLink/tunnel, consent or ZK custody change. No live account, phone, browser, package availability or deployment acceptance is claimed.
Provenance and rollback
One continuing owner/writer: Codex/T3 Code/OpenAI, gpt-6.1-sol, xhigh, standard service. No new writer/delegate. Scope checkpoint, registration. Capture is partial/manual. No UI changed.
Rollback coordinates the producer and consumer pin while preserving queued data and existing retirement/authority guards. Merge authorization does not authorize tags, packages, deployment or activation.
Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
Newsletter view and forward counts now distinguish reported zeroes from missing or invalid values. Duplicate or ambiguous observations are omitted, and reaction lists are no longer silently truncated.
Newsletter milestone positions accept quoted or numeric integers while preserving precision; invalid positions are rejected.
New Features
Newsletter messages expose whether view and forward counts were reported, along with distinct view-count definitions.
Documentation
Added guidance on newsletter count observations and milestone position formats.

Walkthrough
Newsletter parsing now preserves valid counter presence and distinct view definitions, and omits malformed or ambiguous observations. Newsletter milestone positions accept quoted or numeric decimal integers without losing precision.

Summary
Observation fields and validation types/newsletter.go, newsletter_observation.go, newsletter_observation_test.go
Newsletter messages now expose view and forward presence flags and view-count definitions. Parsing validates view, forward, and reaction observations. Tests cover missing and zero counts, malformed or duplicate data, and reaction-list limits.
Message parsing and documentation notification.go, README.md, CHANGELOG.md
Newsletter message parsing delegates observation handling to the new parser and logs a warning when it reports malformed counters. The documentation describes observation and milestone position handling.

Summary
Milestone position decoding types/events/newsletter.go, types/events/newsletter_test.go, newsletter_observation_test.go
NewsletterMilestone decodes quoted or numeric decimal positions without converting through floating point. Tests cover invalid values, precision preservation, serialization, and native MEX notifications.
Malformed newsletter counters can still leak bad values into the legacy count fields, and duplicate reaction codes can report a misleading count. The README also misstates how absent or zero milestone positions behave. These are narrow, easily fixed issues, so the change is mergeable once they are addressed or accepted.

The human's November 5 workflow requires exhaustive current-head review. Review the complete current PR against its actual immediate parent, including count-presence semantics, duplicate/malformed/overflow handling, both view definitions, bounded reactions, milestone JSON and regression fixtures. Review the actual combined input with updated H53; historical results do not qualify it. Report all remaining actionable findings.
Review the complete current newsletter diff against its actual immediate parent for security, including untrusted notification parsing, bounds/precision, content/privacy exclusions and managed/customer-owned event boundaries. The human requires no remaining findings before merge.
The human requires current-head findings cleared before this stack merges. This PR targets its actual producer parent rather than the default branch; please review the complete current child diff and its regression tests. A rate-limit skip is allowed by the human, but an unreviewed non-default-base skip is not clearance.

WhatsApp Web handles milestone notifications with no message (follower
milestones) and keys them with position 0. Decode a missing, null or zero
message_server_id as MessageServerID 0 instead of failing the whole MEX
wrapper; malformed positions are still rejected.

keep the documented rejection behavior accurate for negative, malformed,
empty-string, and overflowing positions.

Address CodeRabbit review on #54: assign ViewsCount and ForwardsCount only
from valid, non-duplicate counters and reset them when the group is
malformed; treat duplicate reaction codes as ambiguous; document that an
absent, null or zero milestone position means no message.
