Group configuration and access roles/os_projects/defaults/main.yml, roles/os_projects/README.md, roles/os_projects/tasks/projects.yml, roles/os_projects/tasks/groups.yml |
Documents group and user options. The role collects configured groups, creates groups unless create_group is false, and assigns project and domain roles. The README adds a group and nested-user example. |
Nested user creation and membership roles/os_projects/tasks/projects.yml, roles/os_projects/tasks/group-users.yml, roles/os_projects/README.md |
The role creates configured group users unless create_user is false and assigns listed users to their groups. The README example includes a nested user assigned the member role. |
Group-user OpenRC files roles/os_projects/tasks/projects.yml, roles/os_projects/tasks/group-user-openrc.yml, roles/os_projects/templates/group-openrc.j2, roles/os_projects/templates/openrc.j2 |
The role renders configured group-user OpenRC files on localhost with mode 0600. The group template exports authentication and project environment values. The existing template now quotes exported values. |

Existing project configurations that do not define the new optional groups can fail during the OpenRC step. The documented example also does not grant the access it shows. Group membership can target the wrong user or group, or fail, when names repeat across domains. Fix the missing guard and the example before merging, and resolve the domain handling for users and groups.

- Line 54: Update the domain expression in the role-assignment task to resolve
and use item.0.domain in both ternary branches, rather than project.user_domain,
so the role is scoped to the group’s domain.
Review comments at @roles/os_projects/tasks/users.yml:
- Around line 95-98: Update the include condition in the projects task flow to
include users.yml when either project.groups or project.users is defined, and
default existing project.users loops to an empty list. Preserve the
with_subelements nested-user processing so groups-only projects still create
nested users and assign membership.
Review comments at @roles/os_projects/templates/group-openrc.j2:
- Line 13: Update the exported value expressions in the group OpenRC template to
apply Ansible’s quote filter to both OS-prefixed and regular environment
variables, preserving their variable names while ensuring sourced values remain
literal.

- Added new optional list parameter ``groups`` in ``os_projects`` - Operators can define and add OpenStack groups to projects - Operators can add OpenStack users to groups
To prevent empty values interferring with other values.

🟠 Major · Skip the OpenRC include when a project has no groups. · projects.yml:274-275
roles/os_projects/tasks/projects.yml:274-275
🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick winSkip the OpenRC include when a project has no groups.
For a project without
groups, this include entersgroup-user-openrc.yml, whosewith_subelementsinput evaluatesproject.groups. Its innerwhencannot prevent that undefined-variable failure because Ansible needs the loop input first. This breaks existing project configurations that omit the new optional field. Addwhen: project.groups is definedto this include, or default the inner loop input to[]. (docs.ansible.com)🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

Review comments at @roles/os_projects/README.md:
- Around line 134-135: Move the roles configuration in the example from the
nested user to group_a so the role tasks read member from the group and grant
the access shown.
Review comments at @roles/os_projects/tasks/group-users.yml:
- Around line 44-45: Update the group-membership task using the visible user and
group references so it resolves the user ID with project.user_domain and the
group ID with item.0.domain, then passes those IDs to
openstack.cloud.group_assignment instead of ambiguous names.
- Line 31: Update nested-user creation using item.0.domain and
project.user_domain to ensure the user and group use compatible identity
backends: place the user in a compatible domain or reject the mismatch before
creation. If the selected user domain changes, update group-openrc.j2 to export
that resulting domain.
